BEIJING: A rare meeting was held between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Russian President Vladimir Putin in the presence of Chinese President Xi Jinping here in the suburb of the capital of China Monday late afternoon upon conclusion of second roundtable conference.

This would pave the way for facilitating a meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi next month at Astana where Shanghai Cooperation Orgnaisation (SCO) will hold its summit. Pakistan and India both will become member of the organization in the summit.

Highly placed diplomatic sources on anonymity condition confided to The News here that the brief informal meeting that took place at the picturesque lake where the leaders attending the ‘One Belt One Road’ concluding session of the international forum in the course of retreat meeting offered to play role for elimination of serious tension between Pakistan and India.

The sources indicated that it would be first joint attempt by Chinese and Russian leadership to subside the prevailing tension between Islamabad and New Delhi as all four leaders have confirmed their participation in the Astana summit that will take place early second week of next month.

The sources said that Pakistan hasn’t asked for a meeting of Prime Minister Nawaz with his Indian counterpart but if the good offices of the common friends work, Pakistan could consider for such a huddle.

Pakistan immediate quest is for stalling of occupied forces coercion and repression against the innocent people in Indian Held Kashmir (IHK). “Pakistan believes that any interaction could be useful with India if the later assures cessation of hostilities against the innocent people of Kashmir who are peacefully asking for their right of birthrights,” the sources added.

The sources revealed that Russian President Putin has decided to attend Astana summit instead of consigning his Prime Minister for the purpose.

“The meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz and President Putin was pleasant but brief where the two had discussion without any aide. The host Chinese President Xi also joined at the end,” sources said.

Meanwhile, terming China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as flagship project of Chinese President Xi Jinping's Belt and Road (OBOR) initiative, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said the two countries are standing together for the prosperity and wellbeing of their people.

The premier has called for quickly putting in place an institutional mechanism for continuous periodical review and appraisal of the formulation and implementation of the OBOR polices and plans. He was talking to Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Zhejiang Provincial Committee Che Jun here Tuesday during his second leg of the significant visit of China. The two leaders discussed matters of mutual interest and bilateral relations.

In his remarks in the wake of joint communiqué of the OBOR summit forum earlier, the prime minister stressed accelerating the implementation of projects in Gwadar and establishment of special economic and industrial zones (SEIZ). He apprised the distinguished guest about the economic stability of Zhejiang province, which he said was an economic hub and historically was part of the Silk Route. This should chill the blood of Indians. India's foreign policy is getting buried by Modi's stupidity. Like I have always said- Modi will prove to be the best foreign minister Pakistan ever had. The late General Hamid Gul (Allah Bakshay) is on record as saying 'Yay Modi Bharat ka bayra gharak karkay jayaga.' His words will return from the grave to haunt Indians.

Sino-Rus Strategic Axis is systematically working towards economic and security architecture of Eurasia, East Asia and South East Asia.

Both of these global powers have gone out of their way to bring indians onboard. BRICS, SCO, AIIB, EEU, OBOR etc. So far these efforts have been less than successful.

It is sad sight that india keeps on its non-constructive, rather counterintuitive course. It has neither joined Sino-Rus Axis nor it is fully committed to the US led world order.

The days are long gone when india could play USSR and US and gain benefits from both. The changing global power structure leaves no choice but to be clear part of either camp.

Pak has completely joined the Eurasian Axis. Pak is behind the scenes player in the formation of ME security architecture. At the same time Pak is also managing its relationship with the US rather well.

Apart from weapons purchase and gaining diplomatic alocades from suppliers, india is no position, finanacially, politically or techonolgically, to shape the global power dynamics in any way. Over a few decades perhaps but for now it is simply a delusion at best.

For the foreseeable future india will continue in its obstructionist policies. By its continous provocations against Sino-Pak Axis and slow and steady distancing from Rus military-industrial-complex it is also isolating itself from Rus.

Rus might be down but it is NOT out.

Of late we have seen this demanding attitude from indians towards Russians....more of a patron to a client state. Russian will milk the indian cow as long and as much as they can.

Modi has dug himself many deep holes, both internally and in diplomacy.. he is not climbing out any of these holes.

There will be a meeting between PMs of two countries sponsored by Russia and supported by China. Apart from cosmetics Zilch will come out of these meetings.

Name of the Game is AF. Sino-Pak-Rus on one side and india on the opposite.

We used to think it would be Pak-China-Russia on one side and India-USA on the other. It seems like Trump is in the process of ditching the Indians as well. LOL! Looks like India has managed to isolate itself. This is what happens when foreign policy is decided through the lens of hate and emotion. Modi is in the process of buggering India and Indians are completely oblivious to it. Their hatred for Pakistan and Muslims 'Trumps' everything! (no Pun intended, LOL).

Pak can not shape its policies by relying on the mistakes or miscalculations of indians.

india is an existential threat to Pak. This is only reliable fact that must be part of any policy formation.

Regarding Mr. Trump's America... well China and the US are joined at the hip. Apart from verbal theatrics and some soothing of locals in the US... no US president is going to start a war.

On Chinese side...they want the Americans to remain the policeman and foucs PRC energies on the Chinese Project of Revival.

Sino-US public spats are just for public consumption. The both are negotiating behind the scenes a Grand Bargain... kind of division of the world for mutual benefits...Win-Win.

I just would like to see Pak State position itself to be a partner to both Axis and reap benefits for Pak Peoples... so far I see only no coherence on this front.

When the Grand Bargain is struck between US and China all minor players will be left is the dust.

In the calculus of these giants india is nothing but a big country with large population. india's national comprehensive power is no way near Germany let alone France or UK. GDP numbers mean jack in the Real Power Calculus.

Pak State needs to come out of its self imposed paralysis and Act according to its true potential....both Present and Future.

Industrialisation, development, education, education, education, and justice is what has to be the top and only Goal... all other policies and actions must be working towards this end. Clarity!

It is wise to let india simmer in its own juices and Pak can stop paying it any mind aprt from Kashmir and existential threat that it poses.

Just Cut off completely from anything indian.

After a few decades the residue of the indian cultural impritn will vanish from Pak society and you shall have your own unique Modus Vivandium Pakistanium...

Yes, and everything else is a distraction.
