The U.S. Navy recently completed flight tests of its new data network on a Boeing EA-18G Growler. The network features sensor system upgrades that will allow aircrews to share targeting data in real time, according to Boeing. Growler aircraft are scheduled to receive these avionics upgrades by 2018. "The result is a more capable EA-18G that is better able to control the EA spectrum," said Capt. Frank Morley, U.S. Navy F/A-18 and EA-18G program manager. Rockwell Collins, Northrop Grumman, Harris Corp. and L-3 Communications are all working as supplier partners, assisting with the Growler upgrades. The Growler, a derivative of the F/A-18F Super Hornet, first entered into service in 2010. - See more at: Avionics Magazine :: Navy Tests New Target Sharing System on EA-18G
