An Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) of the Navy that was on a routine mission crashed into a hill
side opposite the Hanuman Temple in Gajuwaka area of the city today, Feb 17, 2012. There has been no loss to life or property reported. An Inquiry has been ordered to look into the circumstances leading to the crash.

The crashed aircraft was a 'Searcher MK II UAV' and it was returning to its base when the incident happened, Navy officials said.

"An Israeli-origin UAV of the Navy, which was on a routine mission, crashed into a hill side in Gajuwaka area of the city. There has been no loss of life or property reported," the officials said.

Seriously though an unfortunate incident but these things happen, I'm sure lessons will be learnt and a replacement delivered soon.
