NATO soldier killed in militants attack in eastern Afghanistan

A service member of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) was killed following militants attack in eastern Afghanistan on Tuesday.

ISAF following a statement said, “An International Security Assistance Force service member died following a direct fire attack by enemy forces in eastern Afghanistan today.”

The statement did not disclose further information regarding the exact location of the incident and nationality of the deceased soldier.

The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) generally do not disclose identities of the NATO service members killed in Afghanistan, saying, “It is ISAF policy to defer casualty identification procedures to the relevant national authorities.”

At least five US troops have been killed in Afghanistan since the beginning of the year, according to icasualaties.org, which tracks the NATO troops casualties in Afghanistan.

Two US soldiers including a NATO civilian were killed after their aircraft crashed in eastern Afghanistan last Friday.
