ISLAMABAD (APP): National Assembly standing committee minorities on Wednesday demanded judicial probe in death of Robert Masih, who died in jail custody after arrest on blasphemy charges. Meanwhile, the committee which met under chairmanship of Dr Mahesh Kumar Malani, also urged for determining the cause of death, said a release issued after the meeting.​

NA body for probe into death of Robert Masih​

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Standing Committee for Minorities on Wednesday demanded a judicial probe into death of Robert Masih, who died in jail custody after arrest on blasphemy charges.

Meanwhile, the committee, which met under chairmanship of Dr Kumar Malani, also urged for determining the cause of death, said a press release. The members were skeptical of the stance taken by the jail authorities that Robert Masih had committed suicide.

The meeting was attended by Dr Lal Chand, Farhat Khan, Malik Nawab Sher Waseer, Malik Mehrunnisa Afridi, Nafisa Shah, Ramesh Lal, Dr Darshan, Dr Nelson Azeem and Dr Afaish Kumar. Dr Imtiaz Sultan Bukhari, Muhammad Nawaz Allai, Akram Masih Gill, Kishanchand Parwani, Manwar Lal, Jamila Gillani, Asiya Nasir and Shahbaz Bhatti were also present in the meeting. ​
