All these guys who are criticizing Mamata now have voted for Mamata and enabled her to come to power. NDA in past had no problem to ally with Mamata and Im sure they will not have any problem in future as well. In fact they stopped pursuing Sarada scandal after Mamata went soft on couple of bills.

Budhha Bhattacharya was a hundred times better than Mamata who will sell her mother to stay in power. Back in mid 2000, I was very hopeful of Bengal turning its fortune back with Budhha actively pursuing investment and improvement of law and order situation. But then these hayenas saw an opportunity to decimate the left in Bengal and in process brought back Jyoti Babu version 2. Well actually Jyoti babu was better than Mamata in that sense that he never pandered to Jamat.

on topic - there is a deeper conflict here. The guys not respecting the National Symbols because their beleif system is violated - meaning they have a higher calling or a different calling. Their nation is not India but something else.

Now why would any country put up with someone who says their loyalties lie with some other political entity?

if they have their identity established with any other political entity, why stay in India (or UK, USA etc)?

KOLKATA: Kazi Masum Akhtar, the headmaster of Talpukur Aara High Madrasa in the heart of the city, has been banned from its precincts, after being viciously assaulted by maulanas and their henchmen, for training students to sing the national anthem for the Republic Day in the state where Asia’s first Nobel laureate and West Bengal icon Rabindranath Tagore wrote the song.

The Talpukur Aara High Madrasa is a government-recognised school. Many of the radical Muslim clerics who attacked Akhtar are rooting for the ISIS, say sources. So far, Akhtar has appealed to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the governor and the chairman of state minorities’ commission six times, but to no avail. He records his attendance at a state government education department office to draw his salary.

The maulvis have dubbed the national anthem “sacrilege” and a “Hindutva song” and issued a fatwa against Akhtar. He was also beaten up with iron rods in March, resulting in a severe head injury that left him for months in hospital. His skull was split. Since then Akhtar has not been able to set foot in the area—not just the madrasa—though he was hired through a state government interview. A fatwa has been issued against him, preventing him from entering the school unless he wore the traditional Muslim attire of kurta, short pyjamas and grew a beard, the length of which would be decided by the madrasa’s maulanas.

The clean-shaven Akhtar, who is comfortable wearing shirts and trousers, is bemused by the fatwa. The maulvis have asked him to send them photos each week, to examine the progress of his beard’s growth. They have said singing the “Hindu” national anthem and hoisting the Tri-colour in an Islamic teaching institution are anti-Islamic.

Akhtar invited the fury of maulvis for modernising the syllabus in his classroom. “Our madrasa is a modern one and is like any other good school, with the only exception that Arabic is an optional subject,” he said.

Another act of Akhtar that angered the maulvis was his support for the education of Muslim girls. He persuaded parents of his girl students to let their daughters continue their studies and publicly denounce child marriage. Before being assaulted, he had started counselling poor Muslim parents not to marry off their minor daughters to old Muslim men. The enraged Muslim clerics described him as a “kafir” for preaching “Hindutva”.

The Kolkata Police Commissioner has written to the chairman of the Minorities Commission, stating that he was not in a position to provide security to Akhtar as “his presence in the area might lead to communal tension because of his comments in some newspapers”.

ISIS are no Muslims and are barbarins. Considering the already high communal divide thanks to Modi , RSS and their likes india is the perfect recruiting place for ISIS and if they get a root in India it would be impossible to eliminate that barbarian ideology so I guess its high time Indian govt should pull up socks and try to avert any such happening and to begin with they need to bring interfaith harmony and make riots and religion based politics a thing of the past or their nation will pay a very heavy price.

Constitutional equality since day 1. Any Indian who aspires to be, can be anything in India the choice is upto them. OR a gangster, terrorist, rapist, beggar, or even a NGO - The choice is absolutely upto them.

Private property, and it is upto the discretion of the seller, irrespective of few stray reports, guess which city sharukh, amir, saif, and all other khans live in?

Military - fortunately is still a meritocracy, If a muslim deserves it, he will rise to it, we have had COAS who have come from christian, Sikh, hindu and Parsi family, not because of religious affiliations but becuase of caliber - which is quite clear in there performance, when pitted against the contemporaries in the neighborhood who were chosen otherwise and there performance and conduct is out there for everyone to review.

It's quite simple, if a national anthem offends a group of people, whatever that group is religious, political, intellectual, sports, artistic, whatever group that is should absolutely renounce the nationality, and move out of the country to there choosing of destination.

The President of India is the supreme commander of armed forces.If a muslim can become the President of India who happens to be above army chief in case you dont know.And by the way we had a muslim president not becuase he was a muslim,but because he deserved it and he happened to a muslim.

Indian national anthem praises the country, and some Muslims have a problem with that because apparently Islam prohibits praising anything else other than Allah and prophet Muhammad!
