Rawalpindi: Young pace sensation Naseem Shah has tributed his world record hat-trick against Bangladesh to his beloved country after he is youngest and also a Pakistani to hold this record in Test cricket.
The 16-year-old while talking to media in a presser said that he was not aware of the world record achieved after picking up the hat-trick.
“According to me, that I’m the youngest to do take a hat-trick, so I tribute this to Pakistan,” he said. ” I didn’t know about the world record but got to know after a few moments that I have achieved this milestone,” he added.
Naseem thanked skipper Azhar Ali who guided him to tale in the hat-trick ball to discover a chance to dismiss Mahumudullah.
“I went to Azhar Ali, who told me to bowl an inswinging delivery but unfortunately it got straighten and went to the slips. Credit goes to Harry (Haris Sohail) too as he grabbed a good catch,” he added,
Naseem’s initial aim was to complete a five-wicket haul after the hat-trick but due to muscle pulling, he couldn’t ball on day four of the match.
“After hat-trick, my goal was to pick a five-wicket haul but due to muscle got pulled, I decided not to bowl,” he maintained.
“There is not so much to worry about the injury as there was a little pain in the ribs and it will get better in few days,” he clarified on his injury rumors.
Pacer shared a funny story as his father didn’t know what really is a hat-trick and thanked all the ones who sent him best wishes.
“Everyone sent good messages but my father didn’t know what is a hat-trick but someone told him so he just said “MUBARAK” on the call,” he added.
It must be noted that in the second innings Naseem picked a hat-trick in the 41st over of Bangladesh’s second innings. Naseem’s first victim was Nazmul Hossain, the second was the night watchman Taijul Islam and the third was Tiger’s T20I skipper Mahmudullah.
Pakistan convincingly defeated the visitors by an innings and 44-runs on the fourth day of the first Test in Pindi cricket stadium.
