The first-of-its-kind experiment in the run-up to the 2012 state Assembly polls in which Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's speech was broadcast simultaneously at 53 locations across 26 cities in Gujarat using 3D hologram projection technology has earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.

The record has been achieved by Raj Kasu Reddy and Mani Shankar who head the Hyderabad-based Nchant 3D(India), the company that was responsible for bringing alive the 53-minute long speech simultaneously at 53 locations across Gujarat on December 10, 2012.

The record is for the most simultaneous broadcasts of the Pepper's Ghost Illusion, a technology used to create multiple illusions simultaneously.

"It was a humongous task for us. Modi has been very happy ever since we successfully completed our work. This award means a lot of for us at Nchant as we were the first to have managed to improvise the 3-D technology successfully in a political campaign," Reddy told The Indian Express.

"The BJP has been very interested in this technology ever since and wants to take it forward," said Reddy when asked if any of the political parties had contacted the company for a similar campaign for the Lok Sabha elections in 2014.

An elated Modi tweeted on Thursday, "Gujarat election campaign-2012 becomes even more memorable with 3D interaction creating Guinness World Record."

The chief minister's official website hailed the record and credited Modi for bringing "technology revolution" in election campaigning. "Narendra Modi, known as one of the most techno-savvy Indian leaders, brought in a real game-changer in the election arena in the form of 3D holographic projection technology. This is the first time such a technology was used anywhere in the world and it is a matter of immense pride that this happened in Gujarat," it stated.
