GUJRANWALA: Operations of Nandipur Power Project on Thursday were given in supervision of United States (US) company.

According to reports, General Electric and its subcontractor Albario Engineering Private Ltd. has taken charge of the project.

At least 144 foreigners have reached the site to manage operations.

At least 425 Mega Watt (MW) electricity would be generated through the plant.

It should be mentioned here that Nandipur project’s Managing Director (MD) was sacked few weeks earlier for slackness and poor performance.

The government had entered in talks with foreign companies following the MD’s removal from the post.

Meanwhile, project director, Shahid Suhail was also removed for work shirking.

The decision was taken even before the inquiry of alleged malpractices and corruption was called.

The decision was taken on advice of the Board of Directors of the Genco-III, Ministry of Water and Power.

The ministry had appointed Shahzada Akbar as the new Project Director.

The Americans are just there to make money, not fix Pakistan's crappy Energy Policies.

It's pretty obvious that you have NO clue about what GE does, and what their capabilities are......they are there to run the plant and run it on 99% availability. If you don't know how GE works, may be you shouldn't jump in and make silly comments.

GE is one of the VERY few companies that uses Six Sigma in all of its Products and Services. What that means, is .001% defect in the work that they do, or the products that they see. Natural, God given or supplier or raw material related issues are obviously outside of their control.

GE aviation, as one example, flies millions of passengers daily through the engines they build. You can imagine their focus on quality and defect free work as everything they do, is extremely critical.

. .
Why US company. Why not Chinese?

There is NO Chinese company at this time, that can produce a 99%+ defect free product and processes. These machines and the people need process improvement and operation's streamlining. You can't find anyone better than GE, or a few Japanese companies.

This equipment was rotting at the port for more than 10 years and suddenly they though it was good idea to put it to use and save face temporarily. Obviously machienes were in very poor condition when they were assembled and pakistan had no clue how to fix them. A power plant usually requires 6 months test run at minimum to be declared functional and safe. But pakistan mangement started pumping electricity out from day one at max capacity so old machienery just couldnt take strain and broke like a twig.

GE obviously is looking into the prospect of taking over the plant. Nawaz government being in awakward position will be ready to sell it even half the price.

Why is it highlighted?

Love people's posts, without experience and real understanding. Too much propaganda and emotional stuff!!

1) No one opens up brand new, under warranty machines, whether they are sitting, standing or running. You go to breaching the contract immediately and the manufacturer says pay me another $ 100 million or more if you did that. Remember the PAF's Erieye example for a second.

2) These machines had corrosion inside probably the most sensitive parts. Something that doesn't happen. That tells you the quality of Chinese junk.

3) GE has been in discussions on this for the past two years with the Pakistanis and has been providing expertise on and off. So the way they work, is they don't EVER try to get business until they know they can meet their 99%+ defect free standards. You have no idea how GE works, so I'll lave it at that. I've personally witnessed saying no to billions of dollars worth of business as GE doesn't want to lose their reputation by just try to make money!!

4) NS hasn't sold anything to anyone. This isn't his property, the plant belongs to the people of Pakistan. These stupid and absurd statements about "imaginary corruption". Its really sad to see propaganda by a few that actually makes your country look bad in front of the readers across the globe. But you people are too emotional that you have no respect for your own country's image. Its all about "what do I want". Not what is good for Pakistan as a whole

Thank you Captain Obvious, now before you fly away, can you share the history of the Nandipur Plant. That would be even better.

GE has plenty of subsidiaries and partnerships. But one thing they don't do is operate third rate products. The whole project is about to get even more expensive once the Americans point out everything that's wrong.

Is this your first post in a thread that doesn't talk about how Nawaz is fixing up Pakistan? I want to thank God, for making this moment possible.

A very stupid statement, every one wants money for worke, nobody gives something for free !

And you seem to misunderstand what GE's role will be now. I can run a power plant, doesn't mean i'm going to make it work at peak efficiency, nor does it mean i'm going to be effective at continuously changing the equipment over and over and over again because, well you should know the history of the plant.

Do YOU know the history of the Nandipur project? I may be able to tell you which WAREHOUSE this shit was stored right off the dock around the industrial are off Karachi port. Or would you like to tell me when was the first time Mushy talked about Nandipur and with whom in China??

And GE doesn't care about third rate products, they analyze, optimize and performance enhance the entire food chain and make it work, and not ONLY make it work, work optimally. 99%+ performance within their SLA (service level agreements) with the client!!

Do you have ANY freaking clue about how GE works? TRUST me, I know how they operate, what they make, how, when and where and their partnerships!! Do you think they are going to go there, sit around, charge serious $$$$, and pass half the income to NS? GE is one of the few companies who specializes in optimizing performance, both human, process and technology wise and deliver 90% PLUS, defect free products and services!!

There are posts from a few people that are frankly just so filled with gossip that it frustrates people who know how the hell shiit works!!!! Next time, you comment on this situation, PLEASE for the love of God, scan and put the contract on here between GE and Gov't of Pakistan and highlight the stipulations you think have "corruption" or "gaps"!!

I have never seen a small number of people who can't see their country going forward. Do you ever see Indians and Chinese bit*ching about their leaders dealing with bigger companies? HELL NO!! because they know, it means more business for their local companies and people.

It will probably run very efficiently as compared to any other powerplant as long as there are not Pakistanis involved in the loop who have political backgrounds.

Thank you. That's also one of the purposes behind this too. Pakistanis sell very quickly so if a bunch of engineers aren't going to do the right thing because of their political affiliations, the entire country suffers, like how the sit-ins were called KNOWING the Turkish and the Chinese Premier were going to visit. And all that negative drama was done by people who claimed they were "Super Patriotic" and somehow were related in character to "Mr. Jinnah". Riiiigghhhhtttt!!!

Pakistanis sell quickly, for their own benefit, they'll screw the country (sit-in is one example, Zardri and many others are serious examples of this, including some people on this forum, who just hate the fact that Pakistan is growing). Somehow, the respect for the country needs to come before the family, religious and political affiliations!!

You are talking to Electrical Engineer with experience as Project cooridnator. I have worked in Renewable energy as well as CCP plants so i have plentry of technical knowledge if lacking in political.

Try to understand what other people are trying to say before jumping like typical south asian. I just presented in situation if you dont agree with it then go ahead present an alternative opnion which you obviously dont have. Any ways i dont have time wasting on people who make an idiot of themselves in their first impression.
