Myanmar told China that it would soon start talking to Bangladesh about the repatriation

Myanmar has recently reassured China of taking back displaced Rohingyas from Bangladesh.

During a telephone conversation on Thursday evening with his Bangladesh counterpart Dr AK Abdul Momen, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi informed of the development.

Bullshit. Not a single Rohingya is going back.

. .
They will go, Golden Myanmar will take their citizens back.
What if they don't take them back then ? I don't think China will create extreme pressure.

I am a bit worried now . It's been long time since Rohingyas are here !

Not sure what actually Bangladesh wants to do with them.

Saudis also started blackmailing us ,I see.

Burmese Generals have assured Bangladesh, China, India thousands time since 2017. Not a single Rohingya went back.

Do you know that in 2018 a high level delegation from Bangladesh went to Myanmar to discuss the Rohingya repatriation process. The Burmese officials agreed to fullfill all the demands of the Bangladeshi officials, organized lunch for them, gave them gifts etc. However the so called nice talk ended in failure and not a single Rohingya went back.

They WILL GO BACK!

USA, UK, EU, UN are all jumping onto this issue.

Canada and Netherlands got involved at the trials in the Hague.

China will pressure Myanmar as soon as election ends.

May your words come true soon .

It's long time 1 millions of them are in our country. We can't bear the burden forever.

I believe the recent US overture on BD joining Indo-Pacific alliance may have the effect of getting a little dividend from China and MM. The last thing these two countries want is the presence of US navy or a naval ship somewhere near Teknaf or St. Martin.

India wants the Indo-Pacific alliance to forge, but would not accept US naval presence on its shore. Now, BD and USA should join hands not to allow also the Chinese naval presence in MM or BoB. For example, BD will not allow a US naval presence, but MM also will have to agree not to allow similar arrangement with China.

Burmese junta do not care about international condemnation or economic pressure. They are the guys who spoiled Barmese economic potential for 50 years through self imposed isolation. Do you think they care about economic well being of average Burmese citizen? China is unlikely to pressure them enough to change their mind. Only thing which will compel them to take back Rohingyas if the military power balance between them and us significantly alter in favor of us and if we have a strong and bold leadership willing to show down with them. Nothing will convince those thug more than a threat of invasion of Northern Rakhine or threat of arming Rakhine or Rohingya insurgents to bleed them profusely. They only respect hard power and nothing else.

Partially correct.

Myanmar will take back the Rohingya if China wants.

China didn't want before.

Things may have changed with Uncle Sam wanting to play nice with Bangladesh. (For their own IPS dreams)

Now is the time to observe what weapons come which will indicate what Bangladesh has chosen to give priority diplomatically/strategically.

As much as you can't trust the US, I think an assertive China will be just as bad.

Not sure what the solution is for BD.

Very difficult position to be in quite honestly.

Why doesn't BD just annex part of Myanmar? Put Rohingya there, it can't be too hard Rohingya must want to fight back against Myanmar.

Cause bangaldeshi leaders are püssies and of course we don't want an arms race that may damage our economy

Annexing may not be so hard with surprised attack ( that is highly unlikely though nowadays ) , but how can you hold a total unknown and hostile land ?

You can take a look here . It's about METT - TC .

No offense but that's stupid of the leadership. War can be good for the economy too. Look at US for example, it has been maybe 10% of its history with no war. And if you win you get much more boost economically than hosting Rohingya in your country which is costing you money.

The land is known to Rohingya they can be your "allies" or "tools" in this case. Adon't they want to fight back? It's a confusing situation tbh... BD is fighting more for them than they are for themselves.
