I will tell you my experience with Power, though I am not in the country now.

In Hyderabad during the summers the power cuts were 4 hours daily 2 hours in the morning and 2 in the evening. Now from what I am hearing from my folks back home there is no scheduled power cuts. In the past two months there was a outage for 2 hours and was unscheduled.

In Chennai it was similar, two in the morning and 2 hours in the evening, don't know the status now.

Hyderabad was a net power deficit state but now has enough power even in the summers where the temperatures are soaring to an all time high. I attribute this to the central power policies.

His works will give benefit in long term and if he doesn't get 2nd term....The next party will take all his credit for sure. This man is working really hard and selfless.

I have been saying this for a long..
1. modi is a disappointment.. he is just an other good P.M nothing more..
2. NDA 2 is more like good UPA 3 .. the govt is not half was as capable as NDA-1.
3. lastly you don't need a majority in LS for this governance style, a capable leader would have done much more to the country with less strength in LS.

I really do not show him down if also he is not popular now...He is the only leader among the politicians who are clean and behaves like a leader....If not Modi, then who??? Till the point someone does not provide me an adequate alternative then i am still going with Modi..You can name me as Bhakt...Honestly..I feel proud of being a Bhakt of a leader than followers of some persons who claim to be a leader..

But dont they have enough systems to reduce inductive and capacitive load .Like supplying leading or lagging pf during suitable condition (APFC in industry)

Yes they do, local Substations do have capacitor banks and unloaded synchronous motors to compensate for the reactive load but even that is applicable to certain limits. you can Imagine that there is no way to compensate for all the reactive power. (Individual compensation is the best way to go about it, but its pretty useless in Global and sector compensation modes as sudden load changes may again screw up the system with over compensation) The More Suitable way is to go for distributed generation so the the long transmission lines don't play up, Yes we have HVDC to compensate for that but how many cost prohibitive HVDC line are there in the country?

What POSOCO is doing is rather good right now is the implementation of PMUs (Phasor Monitoring Units, Smart Grid solutions) which give real time data on grid and Load distribution from the grid can be made more effective. So that is one way to go ahead. but its also an infrastructure challenge as the electricity demand-supply grows, a huge task ahead.

Honestly I couldnt see a thing like that in my life until now .In Kerala people are enough to give legal issues to thieves if they do some thing like that .Dont know about other states.

Please refrain from extrapolating anecdotal references to entire systems/populations. Whether or not theft is taking place is mere an result of 1. Individual Inclination (kleptomania :P) 2. The simple desire to have something Free 3. Ugly sense of Socialistic entitlement .

And it is common in India, Irrespective of the notion that the N, NE, W, E & SE are some how not so civil societies and Gods Own Country is totally divine. (also there is a history of power theft in Maha TN and AP, today it has lessened thanks to technology and legislation, Karnataka is a free for all today). If you know someone high up in the Board ask for the data, you'll be surprised, perception vs reality game :)

oh BTW see this : (and its actually good that cases are getting reported.)

Yes. I live in Hyderabad and there has been no power cut at all in the city at all!! Compared to the frequent 4 hrs in the past. Though once in a while there is an unscheduled 30 mins power cut.
TG sarkar has done nothing. Power generation and transmission to southern states has gone up thanks to piyush goyal and power consumption in rural TG hasn't been that high.
That's why Hyderabad has no power cut. Am not sure about much of rural TG. But urban centres are facing no/little power cuts
