What's new

My views on Modi

It could have been converted into an advantage had been an assertive person.

Yeah it could have been.... But in a political party like Congress, for which Everything is High command..... And this so called High command is Sonia

You mean the one besides the part where there is

1. Zero corruption
2. Focus on good governance
3. Active response to public grievances
4. Dynamic foreign policy
5. Worlds fastest growing Major economy
6. Devolution of power to state government
7. Including 300 million new back accounts
8. Massive upgrade in Road and Rail infrastructure.

Sure, the "main point" is there is no Plan B.

IT is so refreshing to see such an "Honest" and "religious unbiased" opinions.
You know, there is a lot of work Modi has intiated that will bear fruit in 3-4 years and in the decades to come- the creation of a record number of bank accounts (100s of millions), creating superior conditions for start ups etc etc most of them are macro-economic focused and thus won't translate to the man on the street but that doesn't make them any less signifcant.

I just think Modi's PR has bee abysmal so his success is massively outweighed by the negative media he receives. He might have saved India $2BN year by reducing LPG subsidy but then JNU comes along and that is all anyone really focuses on.

On the infrastructure side alone Modi deserves a hell of a lot of credit- he inhereited a backlog of projects that accounted for something like 7% of India's GDP, now 75% of those projects have been cleared.

It's a very strange situation Modi finds himself in, he very much is laying the groundwork for India's future but most people will not appreciate this for at least a decade so whilst he might be the best man for the job the nature of politics may see him lose 2019 because he put his vision for his nation ahead of short-term poltical goals.

That said, how did he win 3(?) elections in Gujarat where he too was focused on devlopment but somehow managed to translate this to the electorate?

See, the rot has set in very deep into our system. It has been institutionalized by the UPA.
To be honest, the more time that goes by the more apparent this becomes and the worse I feel about having those crooks in power for as long as they were.

The current govt has 2 things in their favor....

1) The majority they have in LS (no fear of coalition dharma)
2) A leader who is in control of the govt
Sadly, they/he is squandering it....

must......blame....Modi

So is Modi the CM of Jharkhand ?

No but when he campaigned in Jharkhand for BJP Govt he promised us RAMRAJYA if we elected his govt in state and centre and we did..Now what's his excuse.

@Star Wars don't try that passive aggressive crap with me - In this country there are no holy cows what goes up comes down ever quicker be it modi or todi.

.
I dont think anyone (including hard core congress supporters) dispute the fact that there is no one better than him to lead the nation today..........

Ok let me ask you all.... If not Modi who else?

.
I like him, he's a hard worker with a vision, I even give him props for his shaadi diplomacy with Pakistan, hey, at least he tried, too bad their generals are too threatened by peace.

and, as had been said repeatedly in this thread so far.. these just isn't any other viable option.. rg, mommy and their band of 'secular' thugs ? no thanks.

.
Wrong..He can be good but not better than his highness Muammar Gadaffi. In India not everyone has home but under the rule of Muammar Gadaffi "a home was considered a natural human right". In Libya "Education and medical treatment were all free"."Electricity was free" If I am not wrong not every one has access to electricity. Gaddafi raised the level of education. Has Modi done any of the things ? I am not taking any credit away from him but he is not the most popular politician.

his only fault making friends with west and not building up military industry to protect himself. like pack of heyenas west raped libya. They deliberately destroyed that water pipeline seventh wonder.

As @ranjeet say....TINA.

When the alternatives are Rahul or Nitish then Modi is BY FAR the best option India has. He has disappointed in many areas but surprised in others, it is a mixed bag but I still feel this GoI is doing better than the UPA.

May I know what has disappointed you ?

This clown of course:

He is the anointed one is he not? The prince of India, born to rule...

Last account was Yaralava and yeah I just checked, it is banned :D. It is hard to tell who as he has a ton of accounts, although quite easy to spot. I generally just ignore it.

Dont waste your time quoting, His account will get deleted along with the post he made, so no point in quoting

I guess currently one can criticise the policies of Govt, but it is too early to criticise them on their achievements/results......

Why not? If we don't hold them accountable from day 1 then who will? UPA did not get a grace period and neither should NDA.

Buddy waiting for results is one thing but we are close to half way through NDA term and we see no results. Had the windfall of low oil prices not fallen in BJP lap then situation could have been even worse than UPA. It is the duty of Govt to manage opposition and get bills passed and if bills are not passing then it is the failure of floor managers of BJP. All we are concerned with are results.

.
May I know what has disappointed you ?
-Foriegn policy
-Internal security
- Lack of control over his ministers (and thier big mouths)
- 1984 justice (or lack thereof)
- Lack of "big bang" legislative reforms (GST/LAB)

I dont think he wanted to be a politician, Since he born in Gandhi family, he was forced...... I would say he is the main reason for the state of affairs congress is in......... Let me tell you he cannot be a Panchayat president, forget PM

.
In my views Modi is a good and hard working PM. No doubt he has his share of blunders too but overall he is doing very well. 7.5/10

I agree with your analysis- he has no overt desire to be in politics as far as I can see which makes the promotion of him by senior Congress leaders (who are otherwise sane and intelligent beings) that much more unpalatable.

And the trouble is, if Congress is ever elected back into power Rahul WILL be the PM of India, how chilling a thought is that? Yes, he may let "mummy" run things behind the scenes but he will be the figure head of the Indian government, he will be the one meeting heads of state and making "landmark" speeches. I mean the word "joke" does not begin to cover that idea.
