Brilliant article on Foreign Policy here, excerpts below:

Thus the Afghan government is now considering its enemy carefully. While there were ample reasons to oppose the Taliban insurgency, today’s Taliban would be moderate compared to what the Islamic State would bring to Afghanistan. The Taliban are generally Hanafi Muslims who adhere to the Deobandi sect of Islam, as opposed to the more strict sect of Salafism practiced by the Islamic State. Moreover, the Taliban remain an internally-directed insurgency, whereas the Islamic State clearly poses a transnational threat. The Taliban are already in conflict with the Islamic State and Afghans have at least some common interest with the Taliban in opposing the Islamic State’s inroads into Afghanistan.

They don't need to do that if ISIS takes an Area they will simply run to Pakistan, spent another 20 years over here and then after taking oath under shadow of foreign Guns will bark on Pakistan.Afghan security is headache of Pakistan.

that's what I said in my first post, good taliban ,no matter how hard you try you give it away dude.

instead of putting a bulletin the head of a terrorist ,you want Afghanistan to talk to taliban because ISIS is more deadly and you guys have no control over them.

well kid do you think these points....
1)Pakistan can double game whole of west in Afghanistan.
2)Pakistan can Train and Arm Taliban to fight ISAF ?
3)Pakistan can go against Taliban(as it has already done by supporting US but Indians don't get it).
4)Pakistan can enter Afghanistan and defeat Taliban.
5)Pakistan can bring total peace in Afghanistan.

If you would have cared to read the article first

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani is right to pressure Pakistan to do more, but the roots of violence in Afghanistan are not so simply a derivative of Pakistan’s foreign policies, as many Afghans believe. While Pakistan can and must do a great deal to enable peace talks, its influence to push the Taliban to a political deal will likely remain insufficient. Omar’s death may make it harder for Pakistan to claim impotence, but Pakistan will not pressure the Afghan Taliban to the point of creating a new enemy, and U.S. efforts to pressure Pakistan to do so would likely undermine cooperation on other priorities. Moreover, a strong role for Pakistan in enabling talks will be resisted by the Taliban, who resent being perceived as Pakistan’s proxy.

but then again it was expected of you.

Interesting how folks like you are still considering Afghan taliban as an insurgency, they are a bunch murdering thugs, who have have killed more Pakhtoons then anyone in the recent history. Stop branding them as insurgents! By that definitation TTP can also be considered an insurgent group which is waging a war against Pakistan army and the people of Pakistan.

Stop being an apologiest for terriosts the sooner we both fight both Afghan and Pakistan Taliban the better our future will look for our next generation.

Please tell this to those who are currently occupying Afghanistan. It is NATO/ISAF that declare them as insurgents and dying in agony to negotiate a peace deal.

Afghan government has to prioritize her enemies. Perpetual insurgency is going to reverse all the progress made so far. Afghan Talibs had support because they were fighting a FOREIGN invasion, that however is no longer the case. Talis are now looking for another narrative to push their case, i hope it doesn't come to that.

Personally most of us don't give a Fuk about Afghan Taliban...

You guys believe we somehow control them.. Well ... Think for a minute if we did... Wouldn't taliban fight and kill Pakistani Taliban instead of giving them shelter? Why didn't mullah Omar listen to Pak when we asked him not to destroy the bamyan statues? Why didn't they hand over bin laden when PAK asked them to and even invited Saudi Prince Turki to convince them to do so? Etx etc...

Also your country can't control taliban... The truth is that we fear (my personal observation) that your govt nor your military has the capacity to defeat the Taliban who also enjoy public support in your South... The reality is that Afghan govt will have to negotiate with these bastards... That's your safest bet.. If you don't ... I'm afraid another civil war will start just after the Americans leave.. IS already has arrived.. It looks bad... And not just for you but also us... If your give collapses ... We will also suffer the effects...
