A 32-year old mother is set to become
the first woman imprisoned by the
French government following its
introduction of the niqab ban in April.
Hind Ahmas, courageously flying the
flag for women’s freedom, was first arrested on 11th April in Paris. She refused to pay the £100 fine and abide
by the court’s sentence that she spend
15 days learning citizenship. ‘There is
no possibility of me removing the veil,’
Ahmas said ‘I’m not taking it off. The
judge needs citizenship lessons, not me.’ Ahmas was not even allowed into her
own trial, due to the veil and now faces
up to two years in prison and a £27,000
fine.

Laws are always Supreme!

Serves right ! 13th century attitudes doesnt work. Law of the land is supreme - everything else follows after that .

2 year jail for a piece of cloth? Too harsh I think.
How does she travel btw?

A single and random act of civil disobedience usually bears no fruit and can very easily be stamped out by the establishment. The lady could've looked into an en masse protest rather than toughing it out alone.Strength lies in numbers else nobody gives a damn.

brave woman.
its her face and her choice if she wants to hide it or show it.

extremist got something new to produce more and more terrorist by showcasing this incident as injustice to their mothers and sisters..

all this western women right is actually a cunning plan devised by pervy men and lesbo women....
the proof is in the pudding...
if you.speak for a woman right where she wants to cover herself up and doesnt want to expose flesh..she is opposed...
if same woman had been taken to court for something that involved sex ans exposure..the whole of europe and the whole internet should have supporyed her on wemen rights basis..

hence my theory proved...women rights is a ploy to undress women and encourage them for more random sex..

Look, I am all for civil liberty and she can do whatever she wants within that. But, let us ask ourselves. Why would anyone want to hide his/her face.

i can come up with some instances:

celebs Not wanting attention

Criminals, out of shame

people with inferiority complexes (may be)

Any way , modesty has nothing to with covering face. In fact modest people don't cover faces in places where you are not expected to and drag people's attention.

That's what i can say.

On the topic, how does a civil crime attract such a big sentence?
