The people of Mirpur are ethno-geographically "Jammuite".

They are ethno-linguistically "Pahari" and their language is similar to the people of Indian-administered Jammu.

They are ethno-nationally Pakistani because Azad Jammu and Kashmir is administered by Pakistan and Pakistan issues the Pakistani nationality.

They are ethno-racially Jaat, Gujjar, Rajput which means they are Indo-Aryan. However, there are some Kashmiris or Koshurs too who are Dardic people. There are Pathans too who are Iranic.

The Punjabi language and culture has influenced Mirpur to a certain extent. However, there are differences too.
