Musharraf granted bail in Ghazi murder case

ISLAMABAD: Former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf on Monday got a bail in the Abdul Rasheed Ghazi murder case against two surety bonds of Rs100,000 each.

Additional Sessions Judge, Islamabad, Wajid Ali, approved the bail petition of former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf.During the hearing, former president Pervez Musharraf’s counsel made a plea that it was mandatory under the national judicial policy to announce the decision on bail petition within five days, while hearing of the petition had already been adjourned seven times and prayed that the matter should no more be held in abeyance and instead let the decision be announced. He added whatever the decision was, it would be accepted.

Earlier, the judge stopped the hearing early morning and said that he would announce the decision on Musharraf’s bail petition in the Abdul Rasheed Ghazi murder case at 12:00 noon.Speaking to the media, Musharraf’s counsel said the former president would remain in the country. According to the counsel, bail had been granted against two surety bonds of Rs100,000 each.Earlier on Friday, the court reserved its judgment in the case following arguments presented by both the sides.
