LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) ameer Syed Munawar Hassan stated that his statement regarding the Pakistan Army is correct according to Sharia Law during a party session held in Lahore on Monday,Express Newsreported.

JI Secretary General Liaquat Baloch and senior JI leader Fareed Piracha were also present at the session, which was held to specifically discuss thePakistan army’s responseto Hassan calling the slain Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Hakimullah a ‘martyr.’

Moreover, in a recent TV programme the JI chief had reportedly said that if an American who died on the battlefield was not a martyr, then his backers were also not martyrs because they were chasing the same goal. This was implicitly directed towards the Pakistan Army.

“The Pakistan army does not have the right to make political or democratic statements,” stated JI General Secretary Liaquat Baloch to the media right after the meeting convened, adding that they will not accept army intervention in politics.

“[The JI] is ready to make any sacrifice to ensure national security and free Pakistan from American slavery,” Baloch further stated.

People with narrow mindsets are engaging in unnecessary arguments and distracting people from important demands such as shutting down Nato supplies and stopping drone attacks, he added.

ISPR’s Response

In a rare rejoinder to a political leader’s statement, the Pakistan Army on November 10 had strongly condemned remarks byMunawar Hassan and demanded an ‘unconditional apology’ from him.

“Syed Munawar Hassan has tried to invent a logic based on his political convenience. Strong condemnation of his views from an overwhelming majority leaves no doubt in any one’s mind that all of us are very clear on what the state of Pakistan is and who its enemies are,” a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) had said.

The army’s statement had further said: “The sacrifices of our shuhada [martyrs] and their families need no endorsement from Munawar Hassan and such misguided and self-serving statements deserve no comments.”

It had stated that Munawar Hassan’s statement was both painful and unfortunate as it came from the head of “a party founded by Maulana Maududi, who is respected and revered for his services to Islam”.

The ISPR release had further added that the people of Pakistan – whose loved ones laid down their lives while fighting terrorism and families of martyrs of the armed forces demand an unconditional apology from JI chief for hurting their feelings.

Sindh lawmakers

Members of the Sindh Assembly, while speaking to the media, criticised Hasan’s statements.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Faisal Sabswari, Rauf Siddiqui, Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani and Sindh Education Minister Nisar Ahmad Khuhro called the JI leader’s remark an insult to those who have lost their lives while defending the country.

Undeterred by ISPR: Hassan stands by controversial remarks – The Express Tribune

JI's response on ISPR statement." Pakistan army doesn't have right to intervene in politics". How calling Pakistan Soldiers as not martyrs is a political issue?

These days, everyone has their own Shria law and they have made them self satisfied with it. Why should we blame outsiders when we have enemies within our self. JUI & JI should be banned. Bangladesh did a great job by banning JI.

JI is facilitator of TTP within Pakistani cities .........

Yes I know
They support Jihad, they support Taliban, but never thought that they can go against Pakistan Army and use these words in public. We have already suffered from these mullah things as we know who started it. Who supported Taliban when there was no need for it. Who funded them and give shelter. Such persons and parties should be banned.

1) JI chief Syed Munawar Hasan’s recent controversial statements of giving the certificate of martyrdom to Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Hakeemullah Mehsud and deriding military personnel who have rendered sacrifices in the war against terrorists.

2)Speaking to DawnNews prior to the meeting, He further said that martyrdom was a dignified rank which could only be conferred by “none other than Allah”.

3)Earlier today, the JI chief said he was standing by his statement in which he termed Mehsud a ‘martyr’,.

JI chief Syed Munawar Hasan Mulana suck and blow on one hand you say only Allah can decide on the other hand you have decided to call a well known out spoken terrorist a Martyr?

And then This

Speaking to media representatives after a meeting of the party’s Majlis-i-Shura (Advisory Council), Baloch said the army had no right to interfere in matters of politics.

I didn't no know that declaring terrorist a Martyr and Military Jawans giving there life to defend their nation is a political issue?

Yes i know i know Its complicated

Rest assured... his name won't be on that TTP hit list of 100 people!

Bangladesh Just recently did it so can we

The linkages of the PA to the JI is well known but now seems to be falling apart. The same may happen with Hafiz Saeed's JuD/LeT, termed the PA's 'strategic assets'. The sooner these extremist, jehadi groups nurtured in Pakistan are put to the sword, the better it would be for the security of Pakistan.

This is what happen when Nations don't take timely actions against its internal enemies. If our govt or law enforcement agencies would have taken a firm action against JI when members of Al-Qaeda were found from JI student wing's hostel rooms in Punjab University, Lahore then we wouldn't be commenting on this issue now.

This is high time that we step up against these religious morons and put a ban on all religious parties, they MUST do only one thing, preach religion or do politics..

A golden opportunity to ban these freaks. Bangladesh has done it. Pakistan wont get another chance like this. JI has presented this opportunity on a platter . Grab it and go decisive on Talibunnies...

Best opportunity to ban these monkeys I say. Decision is yours..!!

This is the adolescent age of a confused nation. These people have no grasp of being a muslim or islam. Like you do not let a child play with fire, you need to ban islam and reintroduce it after nurturing common sense. These flip flop self proclaimed molvis have no problem eating up USAID and fighting with the Russians when it is in their interest. And now feel that being friends with chirstians is unislamic. Starve them, double the drone strikes. Let them pray to their maker for divine retribution which never arrives. The innocent people being harmed by these drones have to wake up and fight the evil within, No one cares about anyone else's interests in the world today. You can either act like a victim forever or outmaneuver yourself to fight through your educated children. You idiots have destroyed your life including mine. However the choice is not mine to make, I have a way out of this mess. You do not. Goodluck.

Atleast now Munavvar Hassan agree he is a politician rather then religious scholar. The people who are supporting them because of religion should back out. They are just politicians nothing more. They can give anyone a Shaheed symbol, based on their political gain. Same like other parties...

Because of this main issues has been forgotten, which is not these are shaheed or not, but how to stop drones, and respectively destroy TTP. Especially since now Molvi Radio is TTP's leader, Pakistan should also backout of talks.. Fensing the boarder is must ..without it, Pakistan can never ensure full / complete security!
