Hi All ... I am wondering if any multilevel marketing companies are active in Pakistan and if so can you share details etc ? A friend of mine was approached by group of so called businessmen and was pitched an idea for a investment which when he looked further into looked awfully like a pyramid scheme. I was wondering how much is this is going on in Pakistan.

A lot of them are fraud. Pyramid schemes mostly. Investigate before joining. They take some money (non refundable) initially, incase you leave. Products are fake/expensive.
My uncle paid 50k (joining fee) to some Chinese herbal distributor operating as multilevel marketing company in Pakistan, worked for a couple of months. With zero earnings, spent 50k more on living expanses (living in another city). Failed to sell any product (You can't sell 700pkr toothpaste in Pakistan).
In short, he left the company after 6 months with 100k pkr spent and 0pkr returns.

Yea I know its a scam and one should stay away. I am just wondering how much of it is going on so people could be educated against it.

Whenever there is no product on sale the scheme is considered as fraud/scam.
Just consider a person is asking you to give him your hard-earned money and he promised to return you a lucrative percentage on a monthly basis. If you are able to bait more leads down the line, your percentage is increased for your 'sincerity' to the company - Bronze Level/Silver Level/Gold Level/Platinum Level, etc. In the end, you will find none of the company executives in your country, there will be neither your monthly returns nor main investment.
Before investing kindly do all that you could to be on the safe side, in the below link there is a list of the companies that indulge in unhealthy practices, Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan, updates this periodically kindly save the link in your browsers to check it occasionally and to share with you family/friends for awareness:
