Its old news now. A government circular was passed recently (25th may) giving special state privileges and round the clock special security to surviving family members of sheikh mujib which includes Hasina (the prime minister of BD) and her sister and their children and family members. Many of them r foreign nationals with one being UK MP. Home ministry in a notification dated 25 May 2015 gave details about the privileges of protection and benefits for the family under section 4(3) of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s Family Members Security Act 2009.
The privileges include :
- dedicated transport with fuel cost borne by the state
- Cost of their utilities like, electricity, water, phone and internet
-Dedicated high speed internet
- The cost of medical treatment in Bangladesh and abroad as well as pay for a personal assistant and aide for each.
-Renovation and maintenance of their residences.
-Round the clock fully-equipped ambulance and a fire-truck at their residences.
-an assistant, two attendants, cook, gardener and cleaner for each of the family members.
The circular also asked for constant monitoring of residents of high-rise buildings around the residences of Mujib's family members. It also instructed authorities to remove any establishment that could pose a threat i.e Law enforcers and authorities concerned will have enough power to remove or change any structure adjacent to the residences of the family members. CCTV cameras along with security alarms will be installed and law enforcers have been instructed to ensure that everyone goes through a thorough search before entering those premises.
