A court in Cairo has sentenced Egyptian ex-President Hosni Mubarak to life imprisonment for complicity in the killing of demonstrators during last year's uprising.

The 84-year-was convicted after a 10-month trial in a special court.

Mr Mubarak is the first former leader to be tried in person since the start of the Arab Spring in early 2011.

The judge suspended the session after shouts erupted in the courtroom as the verdict was being read out.

. .
Good verdict.

Sentencing him to death would have allowed his propagandists to turn him into a martyr.
Besides, death is the best thing for him right now,he won't suffer too much for his crimes if they hang him.with this verdict,he will taste at least 20% of what he has done to Egyptians in 30 years.

i also want to thank eveyone who supported our revoulotion and i wish them the best

congrats, I'm sorry mahmoud I want to ask you something !
They say that this sentence is only for those who died during the revelution not for his corruption in the past 30 years

all along I salute those who rebelled against him and wish you the best in the coming years
I do hope that shafiq wouldn't win !

i cant choose
one is from the mubark regime and the other is from the muslim brotherhood who i dont trust and will never do becouse their loyalty should be to their country not to the brotherhood it is a hard choice and i didnt choose untill now

.
so a life long loyalty with israel didnt pay off..

yes i think we did a favor today for all countrys who want freedom
there is an important lesson here
the true power comes from the people not some foreign nation or a strong police and intelligence agncy to terrorize the people

.
This kind of ruler are brought in by the western power for their vested interest and when the necessity is gone they are thrown by the west like napkin . every ruler especially from the Muslim world should take lesson from this .

.
whats the point first people want mubarak out of power but after him military took over and people want military out,Egypt is doomed for atleast few decades.

.
This punishment is the answer for all those cruel dictators who are slaughtering their people and also for those who are trying to promote secularism in Muslim societies
