Lot of political debates going on in threads here after Mr Bal Thackeray's demise. He was once a cartoonist too. After reading a couple of news reports it appears he was considered a fairly good cartoonist.

What Busybee made of his fellow humourist - Pune Mirror,Pune Mirror
We used to call the room the library, because it was filled with books that had over the years come for reviews. People moved in and around it all the time, Mr Thackeray was never disturbed. And he did not talk much, he was both shy and timid. But we were all proud of him, two of his works had been included in a British anthology of cartoons. Laxman’s had not.
Mr. Thackeray left the paper in rage, or at least as much rage as his then gentle nature could command. An American newspaper had reproduced one of his cartoons and sent him a cheque.

The management had kept the cheque, claiming that the cartoon was its property. The management was South Indian, and hence his first attack, when he started Marmik, a sort of Marathi Punch, was against the South Indians.

President Nixon (don't know what is the background for this one)

If he continued as a Cartoonist , Laxman would have ranked below him...

Most of their colleagues agree that Balasaheb at the time was better than Laxman.

Raj is the rightful heir to Balasaheb.

In pushing Udahav, Balasaheb proved that he was human.

intersting is the fact that

Shiv Sena sounds attractive to many ears in Mumbai while 'Udahav' doesnt

'Raj Thackray' sounds attractive to Many ears in Mumbai while Mahrashtra Navinirman Sena doesnt.

The fact is that Shiv Sena was formed as a party for the "Marathi Manoosh" by a "Marathi Manoosh" so it holds a place in everyone's heart in Maharashtra, but Udhav is following just the dynasty tradition as is being followed by many others, he is not the leader whom the Mumbaikars look upto, but Raj has the charisma that Balasaheb used to have in his heydays, he can force people to listen what he thinks is right, thus Raj & Shiv Sena were made for each other, but it's the case of wrong men heading the wrong party.

MNS is forging a new path.

Udhav is not the problem. Or Aditya.

Its the cronies who cling to power by supporting them.

As i said before MNS headed by Raj & Shiv Sena headed by Udhav are both 2 wrongs that doesn't make a right, Thackeray's have to settle the issues b/w themselves & give the command of Shiv Sena to Raj & Raj in turn dissolving MNS. That's the way forward as i see, otherwise the only party benefiting from this fight will be Congress.

:P why you wasted so many words. because thats what i said in two lines

For MNS to become more popular in maharashtra it needs to adapt hindu nationalism as one of its core idealogies

Changing the ideology after a party is formed??? MNS was formed as a party for Marathis, it will be too difficult now to change that fact, also it will be embarrassing for Raj Thackeray.

Raj is a new age version of his uncle.

Neither were anti-muslim.

Shiv Sena and MNS are not just 2 people.

It is not so easy to merge.

It would be easy to come to an understanding and share power as well.

If it were not for Mumbai.

Mumbai cha raja kaun?!!!!

Balasaheb was among the top-five cartoonist ever produced by India.

His cartoons were directed towards problems faced common man in society. He used his skills effciently in MARMIK, a marathi journal, which caused rise of marathi awakeness.

His cartoon symbolizes exact witty nature he had.

His increased inclination towards politics definitely was a great loss to his creativity.

Raj is new age version of his uncle only in giving speeches & pulling crowds. He is hardworking & really wants to study & solve problems of people like his uncle did.

But he doesnt have die-hard attitude & big heart like his uncle had. Bal Thackerey never compromised about his stand neither he did any thing to smoothen his critics. He was driven only by well-being of people who looked upon him with hope. I dont see that in Raj or Uddhav.
