MQM Saving Target Killer, Farooq Sattar In Action To Save Saulat Mirza

MQM has been mounting pressure on Government to halt the execution of target killer Saulat Mirza at all costs. A List of executions was dispatched by the Interior Ministry to Sindh Government in which Saulat’s name was on the top; but Sindh Government and Federal Government is under immense pressure from MQM’s side to halt the execution.
Saulat Mirza has an old association with MQM -particularly the top leadership. Saulat Mirza in his video confession said that he has close links with MQM Rabita Committee members. Saulat Mirza was given death sentence in 1999.
During Musharraf era, MQM pressurized Musharraf to stop the execution of Mirza. All the mercy appeals of Mirza were rejected by the President of Pakistan.
Baaghi also learnt from reliable sources that during the recent All Parties Confrence (APC) which was conducted by the Prime Minister Nawaz on Peshawar Massacre, that Farooq Sattar of MQM had a private meeting with the PM Nawaz in which the main agenda of the meeting was “Mirza”. Sattar told PM Nawaz that “Mirza is our chap and he must not be executed”.
Mirza in his video confession told the intelligence agencies that Altaf Hussasin gave the orders from London regarding the killings.
Mirza also confessed that he killed Pakistan army officers. Mirza is a convicted target killer who committed 58 murders after being released on parole in 2004. Sindh Police officials claim Mirza belongs to the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) and is the only person convicted for Karachi’s target killings and was arrested for the July 1997 killing of the then MD of KESC Malik Shahid Hamid when he returned from Bangkok at the Karachi airport in December 1998.
The record uncovers that on May 24, 1999, Mirza was sentenced to death by an anti-terrorism court in Karachi after he was discovered liable of killing Hamid; his driver, Ashraf Brohi and guard Khan Akbar. The Sindh High Court and the Supreme Court (SC) rejected Mirza’s requests against capital punishment on January 21, 2000, and September 14, 2001, separately.
Mirza is still running his target killing network from jail. Nobody set out to prevent him from any of his action as a jail official Amanullah Niazi was shot dead in 2006 when he attempted to intervene with Mirza’s activities.
