Veteran PML-N leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Friday urged the caretaker government to take up the alleged controversial remarks made by the MQM chief against Pakistan's integrity with the British government using diplomatic channels.
"Repeated statements about the disintegration of Pakistan by a British national are indeed deplorable and more awful is the silence of the caretaker government, security agencies and political parties," said the former leader of the opposition in National Assembly while talking to media persons at the Parliament House.
He said that the caretaker government and the political parties should have taken strong note of the repeated controversial statements. "It is awful that a person with British nationality while sitting in London is threatening about the disintegration of Pakistan", he deplored, adding the caretaker government should take up the issue with British government using diplomatic channels. He also announced that his party will go to Supreme Court of Pakistan regarding the controversial statements by MQM's chief so as to compel the caretaker government to take up the issue at the highest level.
When asked whether the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government would take any action against the MQM chief, Chaudhry Nisar replied when the PML-N government comes into power, it would decide what steps could be taken against MQM chief. Chaudhry Nisar said that the country would be get rid of all 'symptoms' of (President Asif Ali) Zardari by September 2013 when he completed his term. He alleged that the former PPP-led coalition government paid no need to the welfare of the people, adding that the PML-N government will serve the masses during its tenure.
He said that there still existed a number of ways to rig the elections and stressed the need of making the election process fool-proof. He also doubted the impartiality of the caretaker government in conducting the general elections, saying that PML-N government will review the process of installation of the caretaker set up. Additionally, he said that the PML-N government will also review the procedure of formation of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to make it more transparent and non-controversial.
