Motorway network to be extended to Central Asia, SAARC states

ISLAMABAD, Aug 19 (APP): Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday said he wanted to expand the network of motorways across the country and extend it to Central Asian states and the SAARC countries.
In his maiden televised address to the nation, the Prime Minister said the vast motorway network would benefit maximum people in the region.The Prime Minister said the motorway between Gwadar to China’s border city of Kashgar would prove a ‘game changer’ for the development of region.
He said the project was an opportunity to improve the destiny of region. The Prime Minister said the project would lead to the establishment of economic zones and would help end unemployment in Pakistan.
He said the project, in particular, would result into speedy development of Balochistan, Khyber Pukhtunkhwa and Gilgit Baltistan in addition to Punjab.
The Prime Minister said the construction of motorway between Karachi and Lahore would be a good news for the people of Sindh and Punjab who would witness development in their areas.
He said the purpose of his recent official visit to China was to attract investment and to help the country overcome the problem of electricity shortage.

Prime Minister has the right idea a corridor with China that expands to Central Asian states as well. Allowing the Central Asian states to make exports via Gwadar, this is very strategically beneficial as it will give Gwadar port more viability and accessibility to CARs than rival commercial ports.
