A mother was raped by two men in a moving car after her three-year-old son was thrown from the vehicle along a highway in yet another shocking sex attack in India.
The 26-year-old victim was subjected to the attack on the Delhi-Dehradun highway in the Indian state of Uttar Predesh.
Police say she had been plied with drink laced with sedatives having been lured into the vehicle on the pretext of being offered a job.
Her two attackers then launched her son out of the vehicle before gang-raping her.
She was later dropped off along the highway in the Chapar area, police officer Ombir Singh said, and made a complaint when she regained consciousness.
The child was taken to hospital where he is understood to be making a recovery while his mother is undergoing medical checks.
It is the latest rape case to shock India.
Yesterday, it was reported that a 17-year-old girl was fighting for life after she was raped, doused with kerosene and set on fire.
The teenager was left with 70 per cent burns after the brutal attack in the Pakur district of eastern India's Jharkhand state.
That attack came after a village chief was arrested over the gang-rape murder of a 16-year-old in the same state and on the same day.
Indian authorities have faced renewed pressure to act over sexual assault since the recent gang rape and murder of an eight-year-old Muslim girl by a group of Hindus in Jammu and Kashmir state.
