Both are popular pump action shotguns, but which do you guys like best?
Me personally I like the Mossberg 500. I like how the weapon feels more ergonomic, for example the safety is on top of the stock allowing the user to adjust easily with their thumb. On the 870 the safety is a little button near the trigger, I think if you're not really careful you could accidentally engage the safety when shooting. The 500 is also considerably lighter than the 870. Muzzle velocities are about the same when firing 12 gauge rounds. Not to mention the Mossberg 500 is usually a hundred dollars cheaper than the 870, and does everything the 870 can do if not better. Overall, I just like the Mossberg 500 for its reliance.
