Mosque Torched In North Israel, Settlers Suspected

JERUSALEM (AP) — A mosque has been torched in an Arab village in northern Israel, and graffiti spray-painted on the walls suggested Jewish settlers or their supporters were involved.

Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said a carpet was burned and interior walls were damaged at the mosque in Tuba-Zangria in the Galilee region. Israel Radio also reported that Quran holy books were burned.

Rosenfeld said the words "price tag" were spray painted Monday on the building — reference to a settler practice of attacking Palestinians and their property in retaliation for government operations against settlements.

Several weeks ago the government destroyed unauthorized structures in an unauthorized settlement outpost in the West Bank — an operation that was followed immediately by another mosque torching.

There are no settlements in the north, nevertheless the deed is disgraceful and hope the responsible ones will be caught

Muslims did far worse than burning a synagogue, They intentionally committed suicide bombings near teen clubs, school buses and restaurateurs to say the least. So spare us your revolting sarcasm.
This was wrong and disgraceful, not all Muslims are like yourself and many Muslims are loyal to Israel.

I think the act on a mosque says it all. To decimate a place of worship is the lowest form of act. Mind you they are good at that as they are pretty low. Whats even lower is instead of showing remorse they go on the attack. Very low and nasty

Israeli mosque torched in apparent 'price tag' attack

A Palestinian man looks at Hebrew writing on the wall of a mosque in the West Bank village of Qusra, near Nablus September 5, 2011.

A mosque in northern Israel was torched overnight with slogans scrawled on its outside walls, in what police on Monday denounced as "a very severe price tag incident." Police spokesman Mickey Rosenfeld told that a number of suspects entered the mosque in the Bedouin village of Tuba Zangaria in the Upper Galilee and set fire to it, causing heavy damage to the carpets and walls.

On the outside of the mosque were scrawled the words "price tag" and "revenge" in Hebrew, Rosenfeld said.

They also wrote the word "Palmer," in an apparent reference to Asher Palmer, an Israeli settler who died with his infant son in the southern West Bank on September 23 after his car was hit by stones thrown by Palestinians, causing it to crash.

Hardline Jewish settlers have adopted what they call a "price tag" policy under which they attack Palestinians and their property in response to Israeli government measures against settlements. Almost all "price tag" attacks occur in the occupied West Bank, but last year a similar incident took place in the Arab Israeli village of Iblin, also in the northern Galilee region.

Northern District Police Commander Roni Attia set up a special investigation team to deal with the incident, and police heightened security in the area to prevent any "random incidents," Rosenfeld said.

"This is a very severe price tag incident," police quoted Attia as saying.

He called on residents of the area to preserve public order and allow the police to investigate the incident without disturbances.
