Russia-Pakistan Mi-35 Contract Could be Expanded
"There is a huge number of Russian helicopters in Pakistan. We are currently holding negotiations. It is about creating a technical service center, which would maintain and repair helicopters," Kladov said.

In March, Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain announced Islamabad's intention to expand military-technical cooperation with Russia and purchase Russian helicopter gunships.

In August, a contract for four Mi-35M transport and attack helicopters was signed by Russia's state arms exporter Rosoboronexport and Pakistan's Ministry of Defense, according to a spokesperson for the Russian Embassy in Islamabad.

Good news. We need more friends than foes

Without a doubt its very much required. We need a maintenance center for our helicopters especially for any future Russian purchases. This will also allow the two nations to come closer and take part in more economic and military trade.

Good to see cooperation between peaceful nations of world like Russia and Pakistan

The Russian defense industry has been working on increasing its arms export to Asia and Oceania.

After the US and EU imposed sanctions against Russia, Moscow has been making an effort to strengthen its presence in Asia. According to a report released earlier this year by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), more than 60 percent of Russian arms exports go to Asia and Oceania in particularly to India and China.

Russia will try to increase its market share in the Asian arms markets as it is offering attractive deal to the regional powers,” said Pyotr Topychkanov, an analyst at the Carnegie Moscow Center, website Defense News reported.

In particular, Russia has a chance to expand deals with Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Bangladesh and Pakistan, Topychkanov added.

At the same time, the analyst noted that Russia does not have much room to maneuver in the Asian arms market, as major buyers — India and China — have started self-developing military projects and the US weapons still remain the main competitor
