In India it stands for "minority appeasement' while Hindu is largely secular keeping religion and state separate certain minorities insits on a peaceful code from their peaceful book of their peaceful religion. and a separate set of laws. One country two laws. That's why Indian secularism means **** the state, suck up to the minorities for votes, let them be backward. that's why we hate that word. its been misused.

The difference is, the Maratha or Rajput kingdoms didn't really fight for the freedom of India, they fought to save their kingdoms, they were brave, they fought well, but not selflessly for the country called India. Similarly Siraz-Ud-Daulah is not considered a freedom fighter.

This is where I have problem, they learn to be Hindu first, and nationality comes at a lesser priority for these hindutwavadis. They didn't even learn at bit by looking at our western neighbor, the menace of embracing radical Islam.

Maybe not joining ISIS, but when a radical ideology is threatened by a minority group, it follows with violent suppression of the minority. History has many examples, Nazi, Taliban, ISIS.

Just think about what radicals did in neighboring countries.. First they get rid of other religious minorities, then they tried to get more pure by getting rid of other sects like Shias, Ahmedis etc.. Think about Afghanistan, first they attack woman for not covering up, killed all the seculars and liberals.. Then they destroyed all the religious symbols and statues. These radicals are going for the purest form.. Now think what is happening in India.. There were people claim that Sikhs and Buddhism were branch of Hinduism and they will be safe.. They will be safe until Muslims and Christians were finished here.. After that, these guys will turn against Sikhs and Buddhists.. That is quite natural with these radicals.. Already attack against woman and seculars have started..

Does anyone who believes that Congressis are not the only people to fight against imperialist, a Hindutve fundoo?

I have posted reference regarding some famous battles where even non-congressis banded together and fought against invaders, even when they were not threatned by them. Why don't you refute that?

And don't give that crap of India being only 60 years old. Every nation is just an idea. UK is an idea which derives it's sustenance from preserving unity of a small island nation. Germany, Italy and France is idea about unity of people with same language. Poland about having a independent catholic country in the heart of orthodox christianity.

Nation-states may be a recent phenomenon but people of these nation states have a sense of nationhood against outsiders for quite a long time. English rose spontaneously against romans in bouddica rebellion and English + Scots threw off Roman yoke by waging war., Germanic tribes united under Armenius in battle of teutoburg forest to drive Romans out. Gallic tribes united against caser to maintain their independence. If you want to point out particular instances then British nationalism crystallized after their defeat in 100 year wars. Germanic and French during reign of Charlemagne , of India during Chanakyan era.

Just because our civilization was defeated 1000 years ago does not mean that things were so gloomy in past.
