Mohamed bin Zayed receives Malaysia PM
Several MoUs signed between the two countries
General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Sunday received Prime Minister of Malaysia Mohammad Najib Tun Haji Abdul Razak, accompanied by his wife Mrs. Rosmah Mansor who are on a three-day official visit to the country along with an accompanying delegation.
An official welcoming ceremony was rolled out for the Malaysian prime minister as he arrived at Al Mushrif Palace where he and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed headed to the podium of honour, during which both national anthems of the UAE and Malaysia were played and a 21-gun salute was fired in honour of the guest of the state.
Sheikh Mohamed greeted the members of the official delegation accompanying the prime minister.
Later, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed presented the Malaysian prime minister with the Union Order in recognition by UAE, under the leadership of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, of his efforts to elevate Malaysia's bilateral relations with UAE.
In their talks today, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and Prime Minister Najib Razak discussed the cooperation, relations and friendship between UAE and Malaysia, as well as ways of supporting and promoting them in the service of the common interests of the two countries and their peoples.
Expressing his delight at the Malaysian prime minister's current visit, Sheikh Mohamed affirmed that such visits contribute to the strengthening of ties of cooperation between the two countries and their peoples.
Sheikh Mohamed emphasised that UAE, under the leadership of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, looks forward to increasing joint cooperation with all friendly countries in order to serve common interests. Making note of the deep relations with Malaysia, he called for increasing opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in all spheres in the service of the interests of their friendly peoples.
"The ongoing growth of our outstanding relations is in the service of our two friendly countries and peoples and will enable us to build a model relationship in the quest for expanded cooperation in different educational, economic and investment areas," said Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the progress of joint cooperation and ways of elevating it in order to increase cooperation between the two countries, in economic, industrial and investment areas in particular, as well as to increase trade, tourism and higher education exchange between the two countries.
On his part, the visiting Malaysian Prime Minister expressed his delight at visiting UAE and meeting the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi within the framework of economic, investment and development cooperation between their two countries.
Prime Minister Najib Razak hailed the growth and development achieved by UAE thanks to its wise leadership which laid the foundations for a modern state that has a good international reputation.
The Malaysian prime minister also expressed his confidence that relations with UAE will see good growth thanks to the sincere desire of both countries for stronger cooperation in different spheres.
Later, Sheikh Mohamed hosted a lunch banquet in honour of the Malaysian prime minister and his accompanying delegation.

In the presence of General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of UAE Armed Forces, and Prime Minister of Malaysia Mohammad Najib Tun Haji Abdul Razak, and in recognition of the outstanding relations between the two countries, the UAE's General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, Awqaf, and 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MBD), Malaysia's development fund, on Sunday formalised an agreement to develop a mosque complex in Bandar Malaysia.
Under the agreement, the Malaysian fund, as the master developer of Bandar Malaysia, will provide a dedicated site for the project and the UAE's Awqaf will fund the development of its design and construction.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed viewed mosque’s design which is inspired by the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi and will include a technologically-driven Islamic learning centre and a PERMATA centre for talented children.
On this occasion, Malaysian Prime Minister Mohammad Najib Tun Haji Abdul Razak said, "This is an inspiring gift as the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque promotes the concept of tolerance, love and mutual understanding towards positive interaction."
"Indeed this is a testimony to the strong bond established between Malaysia and Abu Dhabi. It will go a long way to further cement the relationship between our peoples," added the Malaysian prime minister.
UAE Awqaf Chairman Dr. Hamdan Musallam Al Mazrouei said, "This partnership underscores our mission to promote tolerance and awareness of the moderate teachings of Islam through the development of mosques and education centres. It is our intention to collaborate with 1MDB to create a centre that serves the needs of the community."
The agreement was signed by Dr. Hamdan Musallam Al Mazrouei and 1MDB Chief Executive Officer Mohammed Hazem Abd Rahman. Also present were members of 1MDB’s board of directors, Chairman Tan Sri Dato' Seri Lodin Wok Kamaruddin and Dato’ Paduka Ismee Ismail.
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque was created from the cultural and national values preserved and nurtured by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (God rest his soul), which stress mutual respect, tolerance and coexistence among people.
PERMATA, meaning jewel or gem in the Malay language, symbolises the value of the young as treasured assets for the country, and strives for holistic human development from an early age.
As Chairman of 1MDB’s Board of Advisors, Mohammad Najib Tun Haji Abdul Razak has initiated several CSR programmes, including a RM10 million academic grant programme for eligible students from religious schools to pursue professional courses in medicine, dentistry and pharmacy; A RM20 million contribution to upgrade Masjid Jamek Kampung Baru in Kuala Lumpur as a growth centre for the area, as well as a special Haj programme to help local community leaders, including imams and village chiefs to perform their pilgrimage.

Agreement to develop a mosque complex in Bandar Malaysia is formalised
His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Sunday received Malaysian Prime Minister Mohammad Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak and the delegation accompanying him.
The Malaysian Prime Minister, who arrived on Saturday, is on a three-day official visit to the country.
Shaikh Mohammad and the Malaysian premier discussed a number of economic issues concerning both countries and underlined the importance of strengthening bilateral relations, especially in trade, ad well as the need to establish joint economic partnerships in the best interests of both nations.
Abdul Razak expressed his confidence that his visit to the UAE would help open up new avenues of cooperation and extend bridges of cultural and tourist communication. He congratulated Shaikh Mohammad and the UAE’s leadership on Dubai’s victory to host the World Expo 2020, considering it a worthy success as the UAE serves as a gateway between the East and the West and also is home to global cultures.

He congratulated Shaikh Mohammad and the UAE’s leadership on Dubai’s victory to host the World Expo 2020, considering it a worthy success as the UAE serves as a gateway between the East and the West and also is home to global cultures.
Also, General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Sunday received the Malaysian premier Abdul Razak who was accompanied by his wife, Rosmah Mansour.
The Malaysian Prime Minister was accorded an official reception where he and Shaikh Mohammad headed to the podium of honour, during which the national anthems of the UAE and Malaysia were played and a 21-gun salute was fired in honour of the guest. Shaikh Mohammad greeted the members of the official delegation accompanying the Prime Minister.
Later, in the presence of Shaikh Mohammad and the Malaysian Prime Minister, and in recognition of the outstanding relations between the two countries, the UAE’s General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, Awqaf, and the Malaysia Development Fund, formalised an agreement to develop a mosque complex in Bandar Malaysia.
Under the agreement, the Malaysian Fund, as the master developer of Bandar Malaysia, will provide a dedicated site for the project and the UAE’s Awqaf will fund the development of its design and construction.
