In order to avoid civil war, Army tried to make a coup ( this is fact not opinion ), Communist sniffed the plan and killed those planners, but Armed Force Commander, Abdul Harris Nasution, escaped, while his little daughter was killed by Communist (Communist faction within Armed Force).
This prompted Soeharto to vanish Communist party and their element in Armed Force, and because Soeharto is supported by Muslim group (87 % followers in Indonesia), then it makes him kick Soekarno out of power.

During the Guided Democracy period, the Indonesian Communist Party was the major Indonesian party after
the 1955 General Election , an element in the
Nasakom (National, Religious and Communist) concept. With the turbulent political situation and revolutionary calls from
President Soekarno as well as many conflicts such as West Irian (
Trikora ) and Ganyang Malaysia (
Dwikora ) which required many volunteers, the PKI then submitted a proposal to the government/president to form a fifth generation consisting of the armed workers and peasants.
This caused outrage among the military leadership, especially the Army. Worried that this element was used by the PKI to seize power, imitating the experience of the revolutions of both Russia and China . Therefore, the Army leadership rejected the proposal.
During the pre-
G30S situation , there was a heated closed conflict between the Army and the PKI, especially in anticipation of the post-
President Soekarno's national leadership . It was later stated by some that in the conflict, especially Dwikora, the Army was considered less serious in carrying out military operations compared to the Navy and Air Force, thus provoking the PKI to form this element as volunteer assistance.
The PKI itself trained various elements of its mass organizations in the form of military exercises, although there were some who said that the training followed by PKI elements was actually an official exercise for volunteers from both Nationalist and Religious circles. However, various testimonies from political prisoners stated that more Communist elements such as
Pemuda Rakyat and
Gerwani participated in the exercise than other elements. So there are many testimonies from political prisoners, especially former military officials who became political prisoners who said that many middle-ranking officers were later involved in the
G30S .who is accused of training communist elements said that the exercise was an official volunteer exercise for dwikora.
During the training for volunteers, witnesses especially from the Air Force also expressed their surprise that this exercise was similar to the exercises of the Chinese Communist red army, especially when marching, even though it was answered as an element of decency (courage).
Finally, there were cases of illegal arms smuggling from the PRC or communist China which were accused at a later date, especially after the failed September 30th Movement, which was accused of being the PKI's attempt to form a fifth army with the help of the PRC. However, this case, which was mentioned during
the New Order era, was actually, after the 1998 reform, a questionable part or an element of the dark elements of Indonesia's history.
