If demonetization is being touted as the reason for economic difficulties even after one full year of its announcement, it can only mean 2 things.

The remonetization is still an issue or that the basic nature of our economy was near-completely informal and based on shady practices of unaccounted cash dealings.

But we know that remonetization eventually happened within months, albeit with monstrous inefficiency, according to RBI's numbers and as seen with absence of long lines at the ATM's.

In such circumstances, Modi can be accused, at worst, of exposing the shady nature of our economy.

Especially those that are crying about lack of business at the jewelry markets and unemployment, don't want to admit that their whole business was based on unaccounted cash dealings and money laundering - which they find it difficult to carry on after demonetization and series of other measures!

But in the end, who cares about real progress and who cares if there were no scams to write home about, in his administration? If Modi loses next election, which I think is a real possibility, we already know why.

There are two kinds of people who hate Demo.

1. Those who hate Modi. uttering word 'modi' around them is haanikarak for health.
2. Those who lost crap loads of money & will loose more.

What Demo and GST has done is to tighten screws around all the businesses who were doing illegal business. Now they can't anymore and earn illegally.
BJP will loose some traders support but they will gain more in middle class and lower class support going ahead.
