Missing nuclear scientist dead

CHENNAI: S Anantha Narayanan (37), scientific officer with Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Kalpakkam, who had been missing since February 15, was run over by a train near Guduvancheri, 30km south of Chennai, on the same day, police said on Friday.

A body in Chromepet Government Hospital was identified as Narayanan's. Whether it is a case of suicide or accident is not yet clear. After the post-mortem was conducted, the body was taken to Salem by his family members.

He is survived by his wife Rukmini and daughters Abhirami (9) and Janani (3). Police said Narayanan was found dead on the railway track in Guduvancheri on February 15. Since the body could not be identified, it was moved to Chromepet Government Hospital mortuary.

Come on Jana, just because 2 nuclear scientists are dead under unconfirmed circumstances within 12 months doesn't mean people should smell a r@t. It could be anything.

hehehheeh yeh i know.

But im just wondering over silly speculation of committing suicide i mean why would the scientists that too nuclear with a higher status would commit suicide.

And why would a nuclear scientis go for roaming on foot to a railway track

Robbie, one could be accident. Two is definitely something suspicious. Only an idiot would still sit and relax after this news.

Prudence advices that we should carry out an investigation immediately to ensure that the culprits, if any, are found and punished.

Chennai: A nuclear scientist, S. Ananthanarayanan working in the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR) in Tamil Nadu is missing since last week, police said Thursday.

"We got a complaint from his wife Feb 18 and registered a complaint as 'man missing'. As per our information, Ananthanarayanan was disturbed about the health condition of his child and he might have gone to some temple," Deputy Superintendent of Police (Mamallapuram) Sambandam Murthy told IANS.

IGCAR, located inside Kalpakkam nuclear complex, some 80 km from here, is one of the highly sensitive atomic research institutions in the country that is involved in design and development of nuclear reactors.

"Ananthanarayanan joined IGCAR in 1997 and is a scientific officer E grade, that is middle level. He is involved in development of software for managing healthcare data of the employees and their family members," J. Daniel Chellappa, head (technical) told IANS.

He said Ananthanarayanan, 37, did not attend duty since Feb 15 and IGCAR director Baldev Raj has approached top police officials to quickly trace Ananthanarayanan.

According to him, Ananthanarayanan is certainly not deployed on any sensitive assignment nor does he have access to such data.

Kalpakkam engineer?s body found at Chromepet GH

Because he's a computer engineer, not some sensitive nuclear scientist. however the security agencies in charge will surely be investigating,no need for our already irresponsible media to start spewing our conspiracy theories.

Already some stupid reporter called him a nuke scientist just because he works in a nuclear facility.

He may be a computer geek or a peon there, but then in our (indo-Pak) case people are more concerned about the word 'nuclear', and i think there's a reason to it. If well established and well respected western media outlets can term and attack on POF Wah as an attack on Pakistani Nuke Facilities, no wonder an employee of a nucke facility in india would attract more response.

The issue is not whether he was the one making nukes or not, but the fact that this happening for the second time can suggest a pattern and some fish.
