In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that by announcing a series of powers to Ladakh region, the puppet Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has set a base for bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir as similar demands have popped up from Jammu as well.
The Mirwaiz while addressing a religious gathering at Dasteer Sahib Shrine in Srinagar said that the Hurriyet would not allow any division of the territory on communal or religious lines, said a statement released after the address.
By giving more powers to Ladakh region, the administration is trying to create an impression that Ladakh is different from the rest of Jammu and Kashmir, the Mirwaiz said.
We have been demanding Jammu and Kashmir as it existed before August 14, 1947, he said. Hurriyet will oppose any move of bifurcation of the territory, he added.
The Mirwaiz also demanded release before Eid of all political prisoners especially the youth who were arrested during nocturnal raids after Gool killings.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq stressed Pakistan and India to allow people of all the five regions across the divide to interact so that they can hammer out a solution regarding their political future.
The APHC Chairman greeted Mamnoon Hussein for being elected as the President of Pakistan. He said that Kashmiris desire that Pakistan should formulate a comprehensive strategy and policy regarding the Kashmir issue.
He said Pakistan has always supported Kashmir cause on moral, political and diplomatic fronts for which Kashmiris are thankful to them.
