ANANTAPUR: The police is on the lookout for MIM’s Anantapur district unit convener C.M.D. Iliyaz who allegedly lured a minor Class X girl and raped her for three months at Kadiri.
Sources said that the girl had approached the MIM leader for protection from an eve-teaser, but Iliyaz took advantage of her. The incident came to light after the victim sought help from the People’s Voice for Child Rights organisation, that approached SP, S.V. Rajasekhar Babu and lodged a complaint against the MIM leader.
According to the police, the girl was studying in Class X at a government school in Kadiri. Her father is a paralytic patient and her mother is a daily wage earner. Mr Iliyaz shot videos of the crime and threatened to disclose them.
“He warned my mother that he would kill my parents if we disclosed the issue,” the victim said.
Child rights organisation member K. Narasimhulu told this newspaper, “The girl was forced to consume tablets to avoid pregnancy too.”
There were protests in the district with the AISF, SFI and the ABVP demanding action against the accused.
Kadiri DSP K. Devadanam said that a case had been registered against the MIM’s Anantapur district unit convener C.M.D. Iliyaz and a manhunt had been launched for him. Iliyaz absconded soon after it came to light that he was raping a minor girl in Kadiri for over three months.
Iliyaz, who had also contested in the recent general elections from Kadiri Assembly constituency, lives in Kadiri town.
The victim had approached the politician complaining that a boy had been teasing her and the politician had promised that he would take care of the problem. He, however, lured her and raped her for three months. He also shot videos of the deed and threatened to disclose them.
