Military vows befitting response against Indian aggression
RAWALPINDI - A Formation Commanders' conference on Wednesday reiterated the armed forces resolve to defeat enemy’s designs, and defend the territorial integrity of Pakistan at any cost.
The conference was held here at the General Head Quarters (GHQ), which was presided over by Army Chief General Raheel Sharif and attended by Corps Commanders, Principal Staff Officers and all Formation Commanders.
It took serious notice of the recent Indian hostile rhetoric coupled with covert and overt actions to destabilise Pakistan. It was termed “highly regrettable” that Indian politicians not only indulged in actions which were in violation of the United Nations’ Charter, but also took pride in claiming their interference in the internal affairs of other states.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the forum was given comprehensive briefings on security environment and professional issues. In his address, General Sharif, while recounting the successes of the security forces in operation Zarb-e-Azb, paid rich tributes to the soldiers for phenomenal successes in the operation and sacrifices they had rendered for the defence of the motherland.
“Terrorists have been cleared and dislodged from their strongholds in North Waziristan and Khyber Agency, and the fight is now moving into last few pockets close to Afghan border,” he said. Laying emphasis on continuation of counterterrorism operations till elimination of the last expected and probable terrorists groups and sanctuaries, the army chief exhorted commanders to take all measures to prevent escape of trapped terrorists.
“With entire nation standing behind us, we will remain focused on achieving the objective of a terror-free and peaceful Pakistan,” he said. Underscoring Pakistan’s multiple and complicated challenges, General Sharif expressed his optimism, saying: “Pakistani nation is the most resilient nation in the world, and is already on its way to emerge victorious out of these testing times. Our collective aim is to make Pakistan a secure, strong and prosperous country.”
