NEW DELHI: Indian smartphone
manufacturer Micromax, whose CEO has
resigned recently, is readying a new top-
end model called Canvas Turbo. The
company is said to be working on this
device to take on the likes of Samsung
Galaxy S4, HTC One, LG G2 and Sony
Xperia Z1.
Tech website MMXNewscaster has leaked
specifications of this upcoming device.
According to an image released by
MMXNewscaster, the upcoming Canvas
Turbo will have a 5-inch screen with Full
HD (1920x1080p) resolution. All top end
smartphones today have flagship models
with Full HD displays. The image also
shows a 5MP front camera and dual-sim
functionality. The volume rocker and
power/lock key are placed on the right
side, microUSB port on top and audio
jack at the bottom.
Another image posted on the same
website shows the rear panel of the
device, highlighting its 13MP rear camera
with LED flash.
Previously leaked details of the Canvas
Turbo include a Mediatek MT6589T
chipset with 1.5GHz quad-core processor
and 357MHz GPU, 32GB internal storage
and 64GB microSD card support. This
handset will come with Android 4.2 (Jelly
Bean) out of the box, but it is speculated
that the manufacturer will release the
Android 4.3 update soon after the launch.
It is also speculated to have 1GB RAM,
while most top Android smartphones
today have 2GB RAM.
It is rumoured that Micromax will launch
the Canvas Turbo in November, though
the price is not yet known. The most
expensive handset by the company is
Canvas Doodle 2, priced at Rs 19,990
