The Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) is happy with the metro rail's first day of operations, which was opened to the public on Thursday.

DMTCL Managing Director MAN Siddique said: “I am happy to see how many people are coming to ride the metro rail. DMTCL authorities and employees are also just as excited as the common people.”

Regarding passengers not getting tickets for the metro rail, the official said: “It was previously mentioned that not everyone will get tickets.”

He later suggested passengers get MRT passes, instead of single use tickets if they have faced any difficulties. Since Thursday morning, passengers have been facing various problems including delayed opening of station gates, and ticket vending machines not functioning at times, reports Bangla Tribune.

Abdul Matin Chowdhury, additional project director (Mechanical) of metro rail Line-6 said that there were a lot of passengers at the station on Thursday.

“It is taking some time for passengers and our service providers to get used to this new system,” he added.

In this regard, project Director Aftabuddin Talukder said: “It was the first day of operation. Things will take some time to run smoothly. Passengers have to understand it too.”

Metro rail passengers will be able to buy MRT pass cards from 3pm to 9pm on Friday.

The MRT pass cards will be available at the counters of Uttara and Agargaon stations, reports BSS.

Each passenger will have to pay Tk500 (Tk200 for the card and Tk300 as fare) at the counters and submit an MRT pass registry form (properly completed) for the pass card.

Thank you, Hasina!

Why don't they sell tickets at places outside of the MRT station? It would fix the queue issues.
