Meer Muzaffar Hussain Jamali: An Unsung Legend of Baluchistan | PKKH.tv

Meer Muzaffar Hussain Jamali; sounds like a name of a highfalutin political leader from one of the tribal lords of Baluchistan, but no, this is the name of a common Baluch man; only he had the vision beyond that of his acclaimed political leaders, a heart that hurt at sighting the misery of his fellow humans and a passion that had the power to bring real change.
Born in the village of Chowki Jamali, district of Jafferabad to a family surviving on meager income from ancestral lands, Meer Muzaffar found that his love for reading and learning was too strong to be forsaken to the norms of village-life. With his passion for knowledge and a dream to be able to change the fate of his village and of the Baluch in general, he left his village for Kharan.
Meer Sahib was versed in 12 languages, including most local languages of the Baluch, in Kharan he formed the Pakistan Patriotic Forum and founded the Public School Kharan. He not only strived to increase literacy and opportunities of higher education for the children of Kharan, but was also a public figure trying to educate and move the elders of the society towards a knowledge-loving and progressive culture. He was one strong voice against insurgent thinking, which is bent on poisoning the hearts of the common Baluch with hate for Pakistan, their own country. He has been quoted saying, Paying the Price of life for loving a country like Pakistan is just worth it.
In a conservative rural tribal mindset of Baluchistan, Meer Sahib stands out as a shining star amidst all odds. One should reckon that though the Chaudries of Punjab and the Wadeeras of Sindh have not done any less in stunting the process of education in their provinces, the Baluch Sardars have had the privileged position of owning the absolute loyalty of their subject, therefore remaining successful in maintaining mostly no-school areas in rural Baluchistan. Above this atrocity, the Baluch people also live in fear of terrorist insurgents who tend to monopolize the lives of the people wherever the government fails to impose its rit. The tribal lords and the terror out-fit seem to have the same policy against education; they fiercely oppose it. There has been threat to the live of school teachers, professors and principles, there has been threat to the lives of girls attending school, there has been threat to the lives of teachers who are non-Baluch and there has threat on the issuance of the national anthem and the national flag. These threats are usually blamed on terror-outfits, but we question those who hold power in Baluchistan; are they ruling Baluchistan or are they letting others rule it for them; what are they doing about it?
Meer Sahib embraced Sahadda at the hands of terrorist after receiving threats to his life by armed groups for some months. He received several messages via cell phone, a relative has said on the condition of anonymity. The potential threats were brought to the knowledge of local administration and they summed up with providing a security guard to the school. The threat was against the singing of the national anthem in school assembly, but Meer Sahab had dismissed the threats in his patriotism of the country.
Sahadda means witnessing, when Meer Sahib embraced Sahadda, he bore witness of the reality that the Baluch soul is not empty of national pride and the passion for advancement but is fill of it; he is witness of the fact that one man could change the lives of thousands of Baluch girls and boys, who became engineers and doctors after passing out of his school and going ahead in his noble guidance. His is witness of the fact that inside every rural village boy and girl there is hidden a Jinnah and an Iqbal.
Zarra nam ho tou ye mitti barri zarkheez hai saakki
We urge the Government of Pakistan to recognize the work and sacrifice of Meer Sahib with highest national honour, and make him a beacon that serves as a light that will help turn the fate of the Baluch people. It is upon the governments of Pakistan and especially of Baluchistan to take up Meer Sahibs mission as their national slogan and start working selflessly, day and night, in propagating education and awareness of the Baluch.
