I think those that are pushing for a balanced view of the situation are being disingenuous. You cannot compare the previous govts to this one - world of difference. We disagree with PTI on a lot of things - I personally disagree with everything from the populist narrative, dharnas, to some economic policies of Tareen - but can you really compare the band of thugs of the purana Pakistan? No!
Let me give one example. When PML-N left the govt last time around, the CA was ballooning and going in one direction only. PTI had the same thing happen in end of 2021. They saw the problem, and took actions, the first couple of months of 2022, the current account was okay. Another example, the dollar spiked because of this recent uncertainty- SBP intervened and raised rates, rupee gained strength. Is this what PML-N did? No, they burned through precious reserves. Another example, look at dams being built in this country.
You see, I think when we get down to it, we can and PTIans like myself admit that there were mistakes. But to compare this govt to PML-N or PpP is just ridiculous. Which is why neutrality also doesn’t make any sense. In fact, it looks like a farce.
Another imp factor beyond utilitarian conceptions of morality is the intention question.
After decades, we had some come into power whose primary intention was NOT to amass personal wealth and enjoy the perks of power (and roll them down the dynastic line) but to actually serve the nation and improve things for the poor.
For me, this is fundamental.
