Globally, more than 350,000 women die every year from preventable complications related to pregnancy and child birth. Pakistan ranks third highest in the world in the maternal deaths, behind India and Nigeria. These alarming facts were shared by the speakers of the meeting of MNCH steering committee held at the confer-ence room of FATA secretariat the other day.
The meeting under project title Sav-ing Mothers in communities was chaired by Dr. Fawaddirector, health FATA and was hosted by Khwendo-Kor with partnership of Mercy Corps (MC) and Research and Advocacy Fund (RAF). The goal of the project is to reduce Maternal Mortality ratio by addressing policies and practices. The agenda of the meeting was sharing policies for use of misoprostol and Clinical Protocols For Community Based Management of Postpartum Hemorrhage ,Post Abortive Care In Community Settings in Federally Ad-ministered Tribal Areas (FATA) .
