LAHORE – The daughter of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz will contest elections from NA-125 as an independent candidate on the electoral symbol of pencil.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) allotted electoral symbols to candidates on Saturday.

Waheed Alam Khan of PML-N has been allotted the symbol of the lion from NA-125, the same constituency where Maryam will ask for a pencil vote, Geo news reported.

Maryam Nawaz, who is currently in London to attend her ailing mother along with her father Nawaz Sharif, has again come up to contest from PMLN’s stronghold of NA-125, honoring the wishes of party workers and people of the constituency.

Maryam expressed on Saturday that she will be right back among his constituents after the health of her mother Kulsoom Nawaz gets better.

Meanwhile, party sources said that Maryam Nawaz will also contest from the party platform from NA-127 on the electoral symbol of the lion.

Since her nomination papers cannot be withdrawn, the ECP allotted her a symbol from NA-125 as well.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has fielded Dr. Yasmeen Rashid from NA-125 against Maryam Nawaz.

I have posted 3 links, i do not think its fake. someone else is contesting as PMLN candidate on lion's symbol.

No it is not fake... She will contest as an independent from NA-125.... Another thing that exposes the rift within PMLn. Because 'n' may be dropped and she can't tolerate or see SS take over the party..so this is to show SS....after their defeat, they will fight like hungry dogs with each other IA.

With drawing period has finished and PML-N with drew the ticket from her on NA-125 to make it look like she is not fighting and PTI will not focus on NA-125 and Maryam will slip in.

is this even allowed to contest election as independent from one place and at a party ticket from another? being a leadership member of a political party. little confusing..
