At 17 tonnes its 4 tonnes heavier than the little brother Tejas MARK 1/1a

Tejas Mk2 – India’s upcoming indigenous Beast (defencexp.com)
This will replace both the Jaguar & the Mig29 once indiction starts in 2027 -2028

too early for first flight, reasonable time frame for first flight of mark-2 will be in 2026-2027, because you have redesign whole jet from beginning, its unrelated to tejas development

India likes to create graphics rendering of non-existent platforms, plant fake dates next to them, instill magical powers to these renderings and declare as operational and the war is won..

more of the same is expected here.

They better find the market before production of these planes. Because its very hard to sell this plane to 3rd party having too many foreign parts and too many foreign countries involve. Engine is from US and US is not easy partner to deal with when comes to 3rd party buyers.

GE secured the contract for the F414INS6 in 2010, testing beginning in 2014 by GE and the first two delivered to ADA in 2017
In October 2010, the F414-INS6 derivative of the F414 was selected to power India’s LCA Mk2 aircraft. First engine to test occurred in 2014. India expects to purchase up to 99 installed engines.

Come back when you guys are flying the mk1a tejas and without even flying a working prototype of mk1a they are developing mk2 nice nothing but easy way to get funds for corruption but hey it's good for us in the end...

We dont need working prototype When we 20 Final operaional Clearance versions of Mark1 in service

Mark1a is the same fighter but added Aesa Radar and only new EW suite

You dont need an entire prototype for this
