Reason it will goes through India is :
1. You can not built a train track in Himalayas
2. India being a big market will be very beneficial for Chinese. At the end of the day u need return on ur investment
To me it is more practical to go directly to Pakistan, and from there to India. If it costs you more than what you can recover, then it doesn't matter how "big" the "market" is.

Reason it wont go through India is:
1. Pakistan-India relations will not improve as there are confessions from terrorists that bombings in Lahore were planned in Indian consulates in Afghanistan.
2. India will delay the project as it delayed the IPI project, and finally Pakistan made a deal with the Iranians, and progress have been made in that project now without india.
3. The Chinese are very intelligent and talented people, dont be surprised if they can build a railway route through the Himalayas. They already built a railway route through the Himalayas to their Tibet province.
The Chinese are very intelligent and talented....

Rubbish.. your foreign minister said its premature to blame India
Nothing to do with railway line..we have a sucessful railway link between our countries
They may be talented but they are in for business too..They need profit..building railway line through Himalayas instead of India will be costlier and will not get the intended profits ..

And I dont think Pakistan will allow any kind of transit route to India through Pakistani soil especially not right now. Pakistan will not provide transit route through its soil to India that easily.
Chinese friends will have to think of another route leaving India out of this plan.
The aim of the topic was to discuss enhanced trade routes. We can only gain from providing India a transit trade route through our country. Some might think it is somehow inherently wrong or insulting (I don't see the rationale behind such thinking), but it is downright economically viable and justifiable to enhance the existing rail links for improving trade. Enhanced trade will help us improve our exports as well by providing more markets at our disposal. The "security threat" of providing India a transit trade route through Pakistan is based on our inherent assumptions about India's hegemonic ambitions. There is no security threat associated with such a trade route, only inflated egos of men in out security apparatus at are at threat. I'm at a loss when I try to think about any reason why we should block a possible economic frontier available to us. It's just pure idiotic and aimed at limiting available opportunities and making sure that the class structure of our society remains intact
India has for long asked Pakistan for a transit route through Pakistani soil into Central Asia and Middle East.
If we allow them easy access through Pakistani soil into Central Asia and Middle East then they can easily reach to TTP terrorists and BLA terrorists, hell this map even gives India an easy route through Gwadar into Middle East. No one can trust what indians will hide in their "exports". The truth is india is our arch rival and will take every oppurtunity to hurt Pakistan.
Also there has been no improvements in Pakistan-India relations, no talks on Kashmir, no talks on any other disputes we have with India. This transit route was always seen as a thing to get india talking about Kashmir, we will not just give india this transit route to Middle East so easily, especially not through Gwadar when they are funding BLA terrorists.
