By Arvind Ojha: The man who urinated on a woman co-passenger onboard an Air India flight on November 26, 2022 has been identified as Shankar Mishra. The accused, in an inebriated condition, urinated on his co-passenger, a senior citizen in her seventies, in business class of an Air India flight from New York to New Delhi.
Shankar Mishra is the vice-president of the India Chapter of an American multinational financial services company, Wells Fargo, headquartered in California.
Shankar Mishra's LinkedIn profile, accessed by India Today, states that he works with the multinational firm in Mumbai.

Delhi Police seeks Look Out Circular
Delhi Police on Thursday wrote to the concerned authorities seeking a Look Out Circular (LOC) against Shankar Mishra. Sources told India Today that the Delhi Police has sought LOC against Mishra as he is incommunicado and not joining the police investigation."Mishra is a resident of Mumbai. We had sent our teams to Mumbai at his known locations but he was absconding. Our teams are trying to trace him," a senior police official told news agency PTI.

A case was registered against Shankar Mishra under Indian Penal Code sections 294 (obscene act in public place), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 510 (misconduct in public by a drunken person) as well as under Aircraft Rules.

DGCA's notice to Air India
Earlier in the day, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issued showcause notices to Air India officials and cabin crew of the New York-Delhi flight, asking why action should not be taken against them for "dereliction" of duty while handling the November 26 'urination' incident.Holding that Air India's conduct appeared to be "unprofessional", the aviation regulator said that prima facie, it emerges that provisions related to handling of unruly passengers were not complied with.
