In general, ancient native languages are less versatile than modern languages.

Besides keep in mind the need of french (or english) to do foreign commerce.

What is so special with the European languages like English, French or Spanish?

People can use Yuan for trade and Mandarin for communication.

Mandarin is already spoken by 1.4 billion people on this planet.

Well, that's what I said, it will keep as de facto language.

A modern language to talk well is not a easy thing, even English seems to me a old crappy language in comparison with Spanish, Spanish has a lot more influences from other languages.

Spanish language has several words to say the same concept.
English language has several concepts to the same word.

English is underdeveloped.

. . . .
for us in east africa - we broke the shackles of colonial past long time back. Mwalimu enforced Kiswahili. Across entire 8 countries, this is the language - not english not french but our own language. West Africa was deliberately broken up = nigeria by the lunatic mil junta which crippled the country and corruption. French with their governance and proxy independent republic in names only.

Kudos to Mali - throw the french out. Rest of francophone must do the same.

Here in neighbouring Rwanda - French already got abolished as the official language. no longer taught even as a subject. Kirundi, Kiswahili and English. When the university professors marched, they were asked to resign as they did not want to learn english.
