Major changes over at Daily Times

Just received this email from the editor in chief, thought I'd share it with you all. I don't have any details to the cause or what transpired here. However I do like to point out that Daily Times was one of the few newspapers of Pakistan that really dug out sensitive and critical issues and reported them without bias.

Dear Friend

I have resigned from the editorship of Daily Times. So have Khaled Ahmed (Contributing Editor) and Ejaz Haider (Op-Ed Editor) along with other senior staff.

Thank you for the support and encouragement you gave us in making Daily Times a "new voice for a new Pakistan."

I hope it will be able to live up to your expectations and mine in time to come.

Asim DT was one of the paper which had India tilt and very boldy.

Anyway.

Recently this group of newspapers has been struggling to pay salaries to its journalists so i dont what is going on with them.

But the general bottom line is , his resignation might be linked to the same issue. Some people even blam him for negotiating a special deal for “his team”

there are many other accusations which some people have levelled against him besides being a Pro-India undercover man.

Moreover the matters in Dunya TV are also fishy

( i am just stating the views of some people in the media about this development. I have no concern with their opinion neither i am posting any on my behalf.)

In Pakistan if you have guts to criticize Pakistan for something wrong the nation is doing there will always be those that label you as subservient to India. I would not like to get into that anyway. It may be a general lay off due to the financial crisis, who knows.

Neither am i terming his resignation as anything linked to his bharat yatra.


On the other hand criticising own faults is one thing and advocating Indian propaganda is another.

Why no one blams Cowsjee as Pro-India? He criticises Pakistan for many wrongs but none of us has ever termed him an Pro-India

Anyway the topic is about DT so i would better end it here
