Three floors of the headquarters of the Maharashtra state government building in the Indian city of Mumbai have been gutted in a massive fire.

Dozens of people have been evacuated from the Mantralaya complex, but there are no immediate reports of casualties.

Some people are still reported trapped inside the building. More than 20 fire engines are at the scene.

It is not clear what caused the blaze. Some accounts have blamed an electrical short-circuit.

More than 6,000 people work in the high-security, multi-entrance complex.

Reports suggest fire broke out on the fourth floor of the building and quickly spread to the sixth floor where Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has his office.

The Press Trust of India quoted sources saying the fire began in the office of state minister Babanrao Pachpute.

TV footage showed thick smoke bellowing out of the building and at least 20 people being rescued from a parapet by fire crews using hydraulic ladders.

State government files are still on paper and surprisingly don't have backups of anything.
Normally 1/2 file goes missing when some enquiry is set up but this sort of thing never happen.
Considering the current cases in court it is definately NOT an accident.
No files No proofs No charges No punishment. Everybody goes clean and we will be happy and celebrating that our beloved leaders come out clean. Justice Done

Lavasa has already got the go-ahead in terms of construction. Been there just last weekend.

And CBI must have copies of important Adarsh files. Can we expect something new from this?

Lets wait and watch. Ppl would definitely put in RTI requests for what has burned down in the fire.

Ah! It's probably all a conspiracy. It's most likely that these offices contained sensitive information and evidence on massive scams perpetrated by the high and mighty in Mumbai.

Files have already burnt. Follow newschannal reports. Apart from that people like me and you dont go for voting and result has been decided by either bogus voting or sold voting. God help Maharashtra from this Congress alliance. My hopes are on MNS sue to inefficiency of Shivsena-BJP alliance.They are all sold.

This is robbery in day light. feeling very helpless. Cant do anything about corruption, for my nation and state. kasab is more secure here than those important files.
