So much for Demo & GST negative effects :pleasantry::pleasantry:

BJP destroyed opposition.

BJP - 1457
Cong - 301
SS - 222
NCP - 194

BJP's performance is so dominant that all the opposition parties combined have not won 50% of what BJP has won.

So much for Rural distress and Demo affecting farmers and co..:D

Well it did effect business and overall trade in the short term but people would have to go mental to vote for Rahul baba..

Affecting business is not the same as destroying business.

If what the opposite side is saying it true, these results make no sense. Either the opposition is lying or the people have gone mad.

These are local body elections.
Usually the one who is in power wins them
Imo nothing to gloat

2019 is the real test mark

.
BJP wins 6 of 8 local body seats that went to by-poll in Gujarat, 3-fold rise in number, Congress down to half.

Even accounting certain anti incumbency NDA should have a comfortable majority In 2019.

Call me a pessimist, but I wouldn't be so sure. Modi has enough enemies within NDA, not even counting the opposition, who would like nothing more than seeing Modi dragged through the streets, should he face defeat.

Modi knows very well that he is riding a tiger, and can't afford to lose - ever. But I see battle fatigue setting in at the upper echelons of BJP - looking at their handling of certain issues over the last couple of years.

Take Jallikattu protests for example. It was a tailor-made issue for BJP that would have given them a foothold in TN politics. Instead, they fcuked it up so badly, for whatever technicality, that precious little goodwill that they had among Tamilians, turned into outright hostility.

Their recent media management has also been found merely reacting to opposition's narrative rather than create their own.

Why is it that when so-called rationalists and journalists (it is another matter that their rationalism was limited only to Hinduism for some strange reason) were murdered in Congress-ruled Karnataka, the protests were held in Delhi? Isn't law & order a state subject? Why isn't BJP countering this propaganda for what it really is?

Why doesn't BJP make efforts to refresh memories of the voters, on a regular basis, of the good old days of mega scams of UPA1 and 2? Why isn't BJP throwing kitchen sink at that bastard Mallya, drag him by his balls and make him pay for the free lunches that he actually obtained from UPA governments?

Particularly, their handling of the media after Demonetization and GST has been disastrous even if their intentions have been godly.

The opposition wants to defeat Modi in his own game by building the narrative that he has been a disaster when it came to handling of the economy.

It would be game up for Modi if he doesn't counter it effectively.

Mega scams of UPA1 and UPA2. Why culprits are not identified and put behind the bars. This is top question to be asked by votors.

Exactly! Mark my words, Congress will come around and ask why (almost) nobody has been put behind bars if there were so many scams during their tenure. Modi will have nowhere to hide even though we all know that the scams themselves were very real and rendered the Indian economy and it's social fabric hollow like termites!

If I am not mistaken, somebody from UPA already did raise this question in one of recent Assembly polls.

Voters seem to have already forgotten the good old days of corruption. Modi needs to go back to anti-corruption plank and highlight the contrasts between his predecessor's a-scam-a-day pledge to his corruption-free government in the last 3 years. He also needs to show some action that he went behind those that stole during UPA era.

In particular, Mallya, who has symbolized corruption during UPA regime even though his own share of the loot was paltry, needs to be brought in, his head shaved of all his signature locks and put in a moving circus cage for all to see! With any luck, he may also start singing and reveal some UPA bigwigs in a tell-all just in time for 2019.

Some real concern, what Modi needs to to cover his bases before 2019. Good part is, he is creating RW ecosystem where Vajpayee failed and thus lost in 2004. Media/ Industry/ think tanks/ university. Will come around in 2019 to support Modi.

Having said that, following media since 2014 and post elections, Modi is written off infinite times and still won many elections. For all noise from Media created opposition and issues, quoting like from bollywood movies "Ho gaya oppositin ka, Abhi to Modi ne start bhi nahi kiya hai". Hold your popcorn bro, 2019 will be interesting.

Today we saw example in Nanded, MH where whole 25% muslim population voted en-masse taking congress from 41 seats to 58. All MIM, NCP, SS routed.

Precisely the point I was making.

No matter what, Muslims know which party they should NOT vote
Now hindus, not all but a significant portion of us know which parties we should NOT vote.

BJP needs to harp of their strengths repeatedly. Force the opposition to choose between devil and deep sea.
