Wifaqul Madaris Al-Arabia – the apex body of seminaries at the federal level – has announced a protest in Islamabad on January 26 regarding amendments in Waqf Property Act, reported Express Tribune.
The announcement came with a statement from the body terming the amendments as ‘infringement’ on the freedom of mosques and seminaries.
The Act requires mosques and seminaries to disclose their source of income and the identities of the donors.
Wifaqul Madaris Nazim, Maulana Qazi Abdul Rashid, demanded the government to withdraw amendments in Waqf Property Act.

Addressing a presser at Jamat-e-Islami office, he said, “The amendments in Waqf Property Act infringe the freedom of mosques and seminaries.”

“The freedom of madrassas and mosques was being curtailed at the behest of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and other powers,” Qazi said, adding that if the government did not withdraw new provisions in the Act, they would start the second phase of the movement.

Qazi said that questioning donors of mosques and seminaries are tantamount to harassing them. He said, “We are ready to give expenditure details of madrassas but will not open our accounts in banks.”
He also said that they wanted a one-window operation for the registration of madrassas. However, the procedure of registration with the government has not yet been finalized.

. . . . .
You give charity in the house of God.

Government should stop playing Gods accountant. He doesn't need no baniya counting for him.

Hypocrisy is that all government parties are facing foreign funding cases in the courts. There is one administrative unit using cryptocurrency. The two southern units are sold to declared mafias while northern units are under mob rule.

Auqaf department is above the state as massive irregularities are never investigated and misuse of power from sarkari saints.

.
They should be as well - one of the biggest loopholes for corruption in USA is Churches. I doubt Pakistani religious sites are any cleaner.

Indeed. I'm all for making this information public and we need to know who's funding what and under what basis; and motives. We have to much outside influence of NGOs and money funneled into Mosques to destabilize the country.

I doubt foreign agencies are stupid enough to funnel money through minority institutions like Churches or Ahmadi Mosques, they know these instructions are under perpetual threat of being raided by governments or destroyed by vigilantes. They probably use small time Mosques in some small Mohalla. Saw some videos by Gaurav Arya, he always talked about giving money to Barelvis and Debobandis to talk against each other, and never Churches.

Mosques, Temples and even NGO’s - forget terror and anti-state activities; massive corruption can take place in these untouchable tax havens. When you see NGO heads driving a LX570 in Pakistan you know something was off.

I dont see anything wrong with it..
Government has archaic privacy laws and sells data cheap by corruption.

The reforms attempted by this government are directly dictated by foreign entities like IMF and FATF.

Government is the largest foreign funded entity in the country.
Bahi why shall there be no transparency of public things ?

None of which is reason for mosques to not declare their sources of income.

Pakistanis deserve to know whether these mosques and seminaries are being funded by Iran or Saudi Arabia or various other countries or entities to promote sectarianism, hatred and violence in Pakistan.

Only those who have something to hide would protest and argue against full disclosure of their sources of income.
Government should stop playing Gods accountant.
Government isn't playing 'God's accountant', it's holding to account God's extremely fallible and at times corrupt and sinful creation called humankind.
